STAR, Bonifacio Echeverría S.A. was a firearms factory that specialized in the production of handguns. It was located in Éibar, Basque Country, like some other companies that traditionally manufactured weapons in this area. The tradition of weapon manufacturing, along with the good reputation of Spanish steel, meant that this industry could rely on a large customer base, especially from the United States and Canada. The products remained in demand even long after production ceased. Furthermore, products from STAR were for a long time a staple of the equipment of the Spanish armed forces and police, as well as the armed forces of other nations. During the Spanish Civil War, Éibar was part of the Republican side of Spain until its fall in April 1937. Then STAR fell into the hands of the Francoists and resumed production after the end of the Civil War, with the main product now being the submachine gun Z-45. STAR then became the official supplier of the Spanish armed forces and police, as well as the armed forces of some other countries, while successfully building up the private customer business in the USA and Canada.
The F series is the all-purpose target pistol in .22 Long Rifle caliber of the classic Star pocket pistols. Its first appearance was in 1932, simultaneously with the similarly sized I series .32 pocket pistols; both are the largest in the line. All of these pistols are generally similar in arrangement and scale, with a fixed barrel, straight blowback operation, and single-action locking. All feature a thumb-operated safety directly behind the trigger on the left side of the frame. The safety is engaged via a lever on the left side, which is operated as usual with the thumb, but directly behind the trigger.
The all-steel pistol resembles a 1911 in its construction and function. It is de facto a scaled-down copy without a beavertail safety. The grip has been extended for the sake of magazine capacity and better handhold. The execution is consistently high quality with very little play in the bushing, a well-locked barrel, and a hardened barrel.

STAR, Bonifacio Echeverría S.A. war eine Waffenfabrik, die sich auf die Herstellung von Kurzwaffen spezialisiert hatte. Sie war ansässig in Éibar, Baskenland, wie auch einige andere Unternehmen die in dieser Gegend traditionell Waffen fertigten. Die Tradition der Waffenherstellung zusammen mit dem guten Ruf des spanischen Stahles führte dazu, dass dieser Industriezweig sich auf einen umfangreichen Kundenkreis, vor allem aus den Vereinigten Staaten und aus Kanada stützen konnte. Die Produkte waren selbst geraume Zeit nach Einstellung der Fertigung noch begehrt. Darüber hinaus waren Produkte aus dem Hause STAR für lange Zeit fester Bestandteil der Ausrüstung der spanischen Streitkräfte und Polizeien sowie der Streitkräfte anderer Nationen. Im Spanischen Bürgerkrieg war Éibar bis zum Fall im April 1937 im republikanischen Teil Spaniens. Dann fiel STAR in die Hände der Franquisten und nahm nach Ende des Bürgerkrieges die Fertigung wieder auf, das Hauptprodukt wurde nun die Maschinenpistole Z-45. STAR wurde nun offizieller Lieferant der spanischen Streitkräfte und Polizeien sowie der Streitkräfte einiger anderer Länder, gleichzeitig wurde das Privatkundengeschäft in den USA und Kanada erfolgreich aufgebaut.
Die F-Serie ist die Allzweck-Zielpistole im Kaliber .22 Long Rifle der klassischen Star-Taschenpistolen. Ihr erster Auftritt erfolgte 1932, zeitgleich mit den ähnlich großen der I-Serie .32-Taschenpistolen ; Beide sind die größten der Linie. Alle diese Pistolen sind im Allgemeinen in Anordnung und Maßstab ähnlich, mit einem fester Lauf, gerader Blowback-Betrieb und Single-Action-Verriegelung. Alle verfügen über eine daumenbetätigte Sicherung direkt hinter dem Abzug auf der linken Seite des Rahmens. Die Sicherung erfolgt über einen Hebel auf der linken Seite, der wie gewohnt mit dem Daumen betätigt wird, jedoch direkt hinter dem Abzug.
Die Vollstahlpistole gleicht in ihrem Aufbau und ihrer Funktion einer 1911. Sie ist de fakto eine verkleinerte Kopie ohne Handballensichrung. Das Griffstück wurde zugunsten der Magazinkapazität und der besseren Handhaltung verlängert. Die Ausführung ist durchwegs hochwertig mit sehr wenig Spiel im Bushin, gut verriegeldem Lauf und buntgehärtetem Lauf.
