In trap, the clay targets fly away from the shooter and rise as they go. A trap shotgun is therefore designed for a high point of impact: long barrels from 76 to 81 cm, a high rib, a heavy fore-end, and often an adjustable stock comb so the shotgun fits perfectly at the mount. The weight is usually over 3.5 kg, which keeps recoil manageable during hundreds of shots per competition.
