Questa è un’ottima e ormai rara pistola Springfield Armory Modello 1911 U.S. ARMY. Tra il 1914 e il 1917, la Springfield Armory spedì un totale di 25.767 pistole, la cui produzione terminò il 17 aprile 1917. Questa rientra nel lotto prodotto nel 1915, il secondo anno di produzione, con seriali da 113.497 a 120.566 (questa è la numero 115.432). A causa della breve produzione e del duro servizio durante la Prima Guerra Mondiale, la maggior parte degli esemplari sopravvissuti presentano segni di utilizzo. Questa rara pistola presenta il punzone “Ordnance Bomb” sul lato sinistro del fusto insieme alla scritta “UNITED STATES PROPERTY”. Il carrello riporta le informazioni sul brevetto precedente al 1913, insieme alla scritta “SPRINGFIELD ARMORY USA” e al timbro “Ordnance Bomb” sul carrello sinistro. Il lato destro del carrello presenta l’aquila Springfield e la scritta “MODEL OF 1911 US ARMY”. Presenta tutti i componenti dell’epoca, tra cui la tacca di mira smussata Tipo II, il mirino anteriore piccolo, il cane con sperone largo Tipo I, la sicura e l’arresto del carrello zigrinati, l’alloggiamento della molla principale piatta con passante per il correggiolo, il grilletto lungo e scorrevole, la canna è corretta con la punzonatura verticale “S” e “P” sul rampone. Ha il caricatore bicolore con anello per cordoncino. Le guancette in noce con zigrinatura a diamante sono visibili con il motivo a diamante troncato allungato. La pistola presenta la caratteristica finitura brunitua blu ruggine della Springfield Armory. Condizioni ottime nel complesso per un pezzo veramente raro e da Vera collezione. Calibro 45 acp con canna molto bella. Arma Comune. Arma ancora più bella dal vivo che non rende come dovrebbe in fotografia.
