PIXFRA Taurus T425 LRF – compact thermal imaging attachment with laser rangefinder

The PIXFRA Taurus T425 LRF is designed for short to medium distances in the forest and during stalking. Compact, lightweight, and well-balanced, it remains unobtrusive in the setup. The VOx sensor with 384×288 pixels, 12 µm, and <18 mK NETD shows clear contours even in damp weather. In combination with the 25 mm f1.0 lens, the attachment achieves a detection distance of up to 1300 m, exactly where forest hunting takes place in practice.

The point of impact remains reproducible. The sub-pixel zeroing works with a click value of 0.9 cm at 100 m and allows for precise sighting. The M52×0.75 thread fits common adapters, and the shock resistance of up to 6000 Joules provides reserves for everyday use in the field.

A clear advantage is the integrated laser rangefinder. It measures distances up to 1000 m and remains invisible to wildlife. Especially in the forest, where distances are hard to estimate, this adds extra safety.

With a field of view of 19.2 × 14.4 m at 100 m, there is plenty of surroundings in sight. The device is usable on target optics up to 10x and displays the image clearly and with high contrast on an OLED display with 1920×1080 pixels. It is operated quietly via the 3-button layout and the focus dial or via Bluetooth remote control with a magnetic holder.

The PIPS 2.0 firmware ensures a stable image with noise reduction, edge sharpening, and improved zoom. The AAIC image calibration continuously adapts, six color palettes, and hotspot tracking help in quickly detecting heat sources.

The magnesium alloy housing is sealed according to IP67 and operates reliably from -30 °C to +55 °C. A replaceable 18650 battery provides up to 7.5 hours of runtime. Photos and videos can be saved in the 32 GB internal memory, and a WLAN live stream to a smartphone or tablet is also possible.
