Block users

Someone is sending you messages you no longer want to read? You can block them in the chat. After that, you won’t be able to message each other, even about other listings. Here’s how to do it and what changes.

How to block someone

On the website:

1. Open your conversation with the person under Messages.
2. Click the three dots in the top right.
3. Select Block user.
4. Confirm by clicking Block. If you also want to report the person, check the box first. The report form will open right after.

In the app, open the conversation and tap Block user under Reply.

What changes

• You won't receive any more messages from this person, either in this conversation or about your other listings. You also won't receive any related emails or push notifications.
• You won't be able to message this person either.
• You won't be able to buy from each other anymore: Buy Now won't be shown to either of you, and you won't be able to bid on each other's auctions.
• We won't notify the blocked person. However, if there's an auction, they'll see that they can't bid because they've been blocked.
• For a dealer, the block applies to the entire dealership. If you block someone as a dealer, the block applies to all your employees.

What stays the same

• Listings and profiles remain visible to both parties.
• Your previous conversation is kept so you can read it again and report individual messages.
• Reviews are still possible.

During a purchase

You can’t block a conversation while a purchase is in progress: when there’s an open Buy Now request, a confirmed Buy Now purchase, or a won auction. You need to be able to coordinate the transaction with each other. After a purchase, this applies for 30 days. After that, you can block the conversation too. Any block you set before then will automatically take effect again.

Bids placed before the block remain valid. If someone you’ve blocked wins your auction with one of those bids, that conversation will be open for 30 days; all others will remain blocked.

If someone insults or threatens you during a purchase, report them.

Block or report?

Blocking gives you peace of mind, but our team won’t know about it. A report, on the other hand, reaches us and we’ll review it. If you’re dealing with insults, threats, or suspected fraud, you should report the person, optionally in addition to blocking them. You’ll find Report user in the same menu. Unblock

You can find all blocked users in your profile under Blocked users, or in the app under Settings. Click Unblock next to the name. You can then message each other again. We won't deliver messages sent while the user was blocked.
