Gun laws depend on the country

Updated on October 08, 2026

Who is allowed to buy a firearm, how the transfer works, and what applies to shipping is regulated differently in every country. That’s why the legal articles in the Gunfinder Help Center are not just once, but once per country, each written for the law of that country and in its language.

Which country do you see?

The Help Center shows you the legal articles for the country you live in. Gunfinder checks in this order:

  1. the country you selected in the Help Center itself,
  2. the country in your account address,
  3. the country you are currently accessing the site from,
  4. and finally the language you are reading Gunfinder in.

At the top of each help page, it shows which country the legal notices currently apply to. You can change it with the selection next to it, for example if you are buying or selling in a different country. The choice is saved.

If you don’t speak the country’s language

The legal articles of a country are available in its language and in English. If you read Gunfinder in another language, you will get the English version.

If your country is not listed yet

For countries where we don’t have specific articles yet, the Help Center only shows the general articles. The rules of your country are known by your gunsmith and the responsible authority; ask them before you buy or sell a firearm. We are gradually adding more countries.

What applies in every country

Regardless of the country, the handling of a purchase is the responsibility of the buyer and seller: Gunfinder is a marketplace, not a contracting party, and is not involved in payment, shipping, or transfer. All legal articles are for guidance and do not replace legal advice. How to trade safely can be found under Safe trading on Gunfinder.
