The MAB Model A is a 6.35 mm (.25 ACP) pocket pistol from France. MAB stands for Manufacture d'armes de Bayonne (sometimes also called Manufacture d'Armes Automatiques de Bayonne) and was a French pistol manufacturer. The Model A was built based on the Browning FN 1906 and Colt Model 1908. The company was founded in 1920 by Léon Barthe. It survived the German occupation during World War II and became a subsidiary of Fabrique Nationale de Herstal (FN) after several changes of ownership in the 1970s.
The MAB Model A is a single action (SA), semi-automatic pistol with a blowback function.
The Model A has a manual safety on the left side of the frame as well as a grip safety in the Browning style at the rear of the frame. This feature ensures that the firing mechanism does not operate unless the grip safety is pressed against the operator's palm, thereby eliminating the likelihood of an accidental discharge of the weapon.
Production of the Type II Model A with a blued finish began in January 1925. A nickel-finish version appeared in November 1929. The Type II was a 6.35mm pistol that clearly based on the Browning 1906. The Type II also has a second notch on the left side of the slide, allowing the manual safety lock to keep the slide open in the correct position for disassembly.

MAB Model A ist eine Single Aktion SA, halbautomatische Pistole mit einer Blowback-Funktion.
Das Modell A hat eine manuelle Sicherheit auf der linken Seite des Rahmens sowie eine Griffsicherung im Browning-Stil an der Rückseite des Rahmens. Diese Funktion stellt sicher, dass der Abschussmechanismus nicht funktioniert, es sei denn, die Griffverriegelung wird gegen die Handfläche des Bedieners gedrückt, wodurch die Wahrscheinlichkeit eines versehentlichen Abfeuerns der Waffe ausgeschlossen wird.
Die Produktion des Type II Modells A mit einem gebläuten Finish begann im Januar 1925. Eine Nickel-Finish-Version erschien im November 1929.
