L’Heckler & Koch HK 512 è un fucile semiautomatico di origine Italiana, Infatti è stato sviluppato e prodotto da Franchi su richiesta di Heckler & Koch con specifiche richieste dal GSG9 (unità d’élite della polizia antiterrorismo Tedesca).
Questo è stato uno dei primi fucili semiautomatici sviluppati per l’uso specifico da parte delle forze dell’ordine.
Utilizza un sistema di rinculo a gas Franchi che non deve essere confuso con il meccanismo di rinculo a inerzia prodotto da Benelli che H&K ha successivamente importato negli Stati Uniti.
Il calcio è in legno e il resto dell’arma è in metallo. La canna liscia è dotata di uno strozzatore che funge da deviatore di colpi, rendendola più efficace contro i bersagli umani e riducendo al minimo i danni collaterali come richiesto specificatamente da GSG9.
L’HK512 è progettato per l’uso da parte della polizia e delle forze militari; infatti, l’uso di cartucce sportive standard, proiettili con cariche ridotte o proiettili da allenamento potrebbe causare malfunzionamenti.
La sicura è realizzata sotto forma di un pulsante a croce, situato dietro il grilletto.
Lo spegnifiamma che citavamo prima, può essere regolato per la dispersione orizzontale o verticale.
