Frequently Asked Questions About Search

Updated on July 20, 2026

Here we answer the most common questions about searching on Gunfinder – from filters and advanced search to watchlist and saved searches.

What is Gunfinder?

Gunfinder is a marketplace and search engine for products related to hunting and sport shooting. We search online marketplaces, exchanges, and dealer shops so you can compare listings and see who currently has your desired product in stock.

How do the filters work?

Use the filters to narrow down your search:

  • Condition: New, Used, or both
  • Listing type: Fixed price, Auction, or both
  • Purchase eligibility: all products, unrestricted only, or license-required only
  • Caliber: your desired caliber
  • Dealer: include or exclude specific dealers
  • Price: minimum and maximum price
  • Postal code: ZIP code and radius for listings near you
  • In stock now: hides unavailable listings
  • % Deals: shows discounted items only

Please note: The "Caliber" and "Purchase eligibility" filters are still in beta – occasional errors may occur.

How do I sort the search results?

Use the sort option at the top right of the results to choose between Relevance, Lowest price first, Highest price first, and Newest first.

With the advanced search you can define your search more precisely. You can also use these parameters directly in the search bar:

  • Put terms in quotation marks ("Hornady 8x57" bleifrei) to only show results where the terms appear in exactly that order.
  • Add a hyphen before a term (Sauer Artemis -Flinte) to exclude it from results.

What is the watchlist?

If you like a listing, click the bookmark icon to save it. You can access and manage your watchlist later via My Gunfinder (just below the search bar).

How do saved searches work?

If you want to be notified about new results for a search, enter your search terms and filters and click Save search. We'll ask for your email address and send you a confirmation email. After that, you'll receive a daily update whenever there are new listings – with the newest results at the top. You can manage them under "My Gunfinder" and unsubscribe via the link in the update email.

Why can't I see my watchlist and saved searches?

"My Gunfinder" is tied to your browser. If you use a different computer or browser, or clear your cache, the entries won't be displayed. Switch back to your original browser and they'll be right there.
