Frequently Asked Questions

Updated on July 14, 2026

1. What is Gunfinder?

Gunfinder is the largest search engine for hunting-related products in Germany. Our mission is to make it as easy as possible for hunters and sport shooters to find the right offer. To do this, we search online marketplaces, exchanges, and the shops of dealers. This way, you can compare offers and get an overview of who currently has your desired product in stock.

2. How do the filters work?

You can use the filters to narrow down your search further.

  • Condition: Choose between New, Used, or New & Used

  • Type of offer: Choose between Direct, Auction, or Direct & Auction

  • Purchase eligibility: All products, only free-to-buy products, or only products requiring a license

  • Caliber: select your desired caliber

  • Dealer: here you can show or hide certain dealers

  • Price: enter your desired minimum or maximum price

  • Postal code: enter your postal code and select a radius, then only offers will be displayed that are within the chosen area

  • Tick “available immediately” if you want to hide offers that are not in stock

  • Tick “% offers” if you only want to see discounted items

Please note: The filters "Caliber" and "Purchase eligibility" are still in beta, so they may not always work perfectly.

3. How can I sort my search results?

Using the sorting option above the search results on the right, you can sort them by various criteria. You can choose between relevance, lowest price first, highest price first, and newest first.

4. What is the advanced search?

If you want to define your search even more precisely, you can use the advanced search. Here you can search for exact phrases or exclude terms. If you want, you can also use these parameters directly in the search bar:

1) If you put terms in quotation marks (“ ”), results will only be shown where the words appear in that exact order, e.g. “Hornady 8x57” lead-free. In this case, “Hornady 8x57” must appear exactly together in the offer. The word lead-free may appear anywhere in the offer.

2) By placing a hyphen (-) before a search term, you can exclude it, e.g. Sauer Artemis -shotgun. In this case, results for Sauer Artemis will appear, but only those that do not contain the word shotgun.

5. What is the watchlist?

If you find an offer you really like, you can save it to your watchlist. Just click the bookmark icon below the offer on the right. Later on, you can access and manage your watchlist via “My Gunfinder” (directly below the search bar).

6. How do saved searches work?

If you want to be notified as soon as there are new results for a specific search, you can save it. After setting up your search with the desired term and filters, click “Save search” above the search results. You’ll then be asked for your email address, and we’ll send you a confirmation email where you confirm your address by clicking the link. After that, we’ll send you a daily update whenever there are new offers matching your search. New results are always shown at the top.

You can manage your saved searches at any time under “My Gunfinder”, but only in the browser where you created them. If you can no longer use that browser, you can also unsubscribe from notifications via the link in the update email.

7. Why aren’t my watchlist and saved searches displayed?

The features in “My Gunfinder” are tied to your browser. This means if you access Gunfinder from another computer or browser, your results will not be shown anymore. The same happens if you clear your browser cache. As soon as you use the browser where you created your watchlist again, it will reappear.
