The wildlife information system of the German states, short WILD, is a project of the Deutscher Jagdverband and its state hunting associations. Since the year 2001, it has been a permanent component of ecological environmental monitoring. The main goal is the documentation of wildlife populations in order to develop strategies for the conservation and sustainable use of wildlife. The brochure explains what WILD is, provides an overview of the surveys in the federal states, and shows which surveys are included in the project. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary, the DJV provides an overview of the comprehensive monitoring program of hunters in Germany in this brochure. The nationwide wildlife information system of the German states (WILD) stands for unity in diversity: scientists evaluate the data from the programs of individual state hunting associations and jointly define monitoring priorities. Regularly, hunters collect data on the distribution and development of predominantly game species. This makes an important contribution to ecological environmental monitoring. With a total of more than three dozen mammal and bird species, WILD is the most extensive monitoring program in Germany. Das Wildtier-Informationssystem der Länder Deutschlands, kurz WILD, ist ein Projekt des Deutschen Jagdverbandes und seiner Landesjagdverbände. Es stellt seit dem Jahr 2001 einen dauerhaften Baustein der ökologischen Umweltbeobachtung dar. Wichtigstes Ziel ist die Dokumentation von Wildtierpopulationen, um daraus Strategien für den Erhalt und die nachhaltige Nutzung von Wildtieren zu entwickeln. Die Broschüre erklärt, was WILD ist, gibt einen Überblick über die Erfassungen in den Bundesländern und zeigt, welche Erfassungen in das Projekt einfließen. Anlässlich des 20-jährigen Jubiläums gibt der DJV in dieser Broschüre einen Überblick über das umfassende Monitoringprogramm der Jägerinnen und Jäger in Deutschland.
