Two years after the introduction of the 505 bolt-action rifle, Sauer presents the 505 Iconic stock. It is made of walnut wood and is designed to be as ergonomic as it is extravagant. As a module of the Iconic Elegance Gold Edition, it features the noble stock wood class 7. As the name suggests, this equipment package primarily emphasizes the exclusive beauty of the rifle. The Stock
The new two-part Iconic stock made of walnut – here in the noble class 7 – from J.P. Sauer & Sohn is finished with a polished surface and impresses with its excellent ergonomic design and aesthetics. The steep pistol grip with a pronounced palmswell and the optimally sized thumb hole allow the shooting hand and arm to remain in a relaxed state, enabling an intuitive movement for the shot. The straight stock back transitions into a curved, flowing line into the cheek piece. The fore-end also has a slightly curved shape, which is accentuated by a drop nose made of black ebony. The checkered texture on the grip surfaces feels pleasantly tactile in the hands. The length of pull is 365 mm, capped with a 15 mm thick recoil-absorbing pad in black.

The System
The solid steel housing of the 505 allows for a smooth chambering and quiet cycling due to reduced friction. The surfaces of the housing are coated with a DLC coating. DLC stands for "Diamond Like Carbon." This type of coating is very environmentally friendly and biocompatible compared to galvanic coatings. The coated components are particularly resistant and very smooth due to a thin-film coating process. The gold lettering of the rifle stands out elegantly against the black surface. The hand tension of the 505 is comfortable and safe. A longer tensioning path requires even less effort. With a light thumb pressure, the rifle is cocked just before the shot and then released to perform the discharge. The Sauer 505 features a Quattro trigger with four weight settings. Thus, the trigger breaks crystal clear at the precisely individually suitable trigger weight. Settings of 350 g, 750 g, 1,000 g, and 1,250 g are possible. The adjustment is made with the Sauer universal key while the fore-end is removed. This version also features an additional aluminum trigger guard. The chamber handle ball is knurled and bears the Sauer logo. The magazine with a lightweight metal base can be chosen between a capacity of 2 or 3 shots and 5 shots, depending on the caliber.

The Chamber with Sun Cut
A special optical highlight of the 505 Iconic Elegance Gold Edition is the sun cut with which the chamber has been refined. In this process, the surface is worked with a grinding wheel in such a way that a sunbeam-like iridescence radiates from the center. When the treated surface is moved, the angle of incidence of the light changes, and the ground area appears to rotate in a circle.

The Barrel
The Sauer 505 bolt-action rifle is equipped with a cold-hammered barrel. This allows for highly precise shots. The muzzle is fitted with an M15x1 thread for a suppressor. It has a smooth profile without sights, and its length can be optionally between 42 cm and 62 cm, partly depending on the caliber. Zwei Jahre nach der Einführung der 505 Repetierbüchse stellt Sauer den 505-Iconic Lochschaft vor. Er ist aus Walnussholz und ebenso ergonomisch wie extravagant gestaltet. Als Modul der Iconic Elegance Gold Edition hat er die edle Schaftholzklasse 7. Der Schaft
Der neue zweiteilige Iconic-Lochschaft aus Walnussholz – hier der noblen Klasse 7 – von J.P. Sauer & Sohn ist mit einem polierten Finish versehen und überzeugt durch seine hervorragende ergonomische Gestaltung und seine Ästhetik. Der steile Pistolengriff mit einem ausgeprägten Palmswell und das optimal dimensionierte Daumenloch lassen Schusshand und -arm in einem stets entspannten Zustand, der Anschlag kann mit einer intuitiven Bewegung erfolgen. Der gerade Schaftrücken geht in einer geschwungenen, fließenden Linie in die Backe über. Auch der Vorderschaft hat eine leicht geschwungene Form, die durch Tropfennase aus schwarzem Ebenholz einen weiteren gestalterischen Akzent erhält. Die Fischhautstruktur an den Griffflächen liegt haptisch angenehm in den Händen. Die Anschlagslänge beträgt 365 mm, den Abschluss bildet eine 15 mm dicke rückstoßdämpfende Kappe in Schwarz.

Das System
Das solide Stahlgehäuse der 505 ermöglicht durch geringere Reibung einen weichen Kammergang und ein leises Repetieren. Die Oberflächen des Gehäuses sind mit einer DLC-Beschichtung versehen. DLC steht für „Diamond Like Carbon“. Diese Beschichtungsart ist im Gegensatz zu galvanischen Beschichtungen sehr umweltschonend und bioverträglich. Durch ein Dünnfilmbeschichtungsverfahren werden die beschichteten Komponenten besonders widerstandsfähig und sehr glatt. Vor der schwarzen Oberfläche hebt sich die goldfarbene Beschriftung der Büchse besonders elegant hervor. Die Handspannung der 505 ist komfortabel und sicher. Durch eine Verlängerung des Spannwegs ist ein noch geringerer Kraftaufwand nötig. Mit einem leichten Daumendruck wird das Gewehr unmittelbar vor dem Schuss gespannt und danach entspannt, um die Entladung vorzunehmen. Das Sauer 505 verfügt über einen Quattro-Abzug mit vier Gewichteinstellungen. So bricht der Abzug glasklar bei dem genau individuell passenden Abzugsgewicht. Möglich sind Einstellungen von 350 g, 750 g, 1.000 g und 1.250 g. Die Einstellung erfolgt bei abgezogenem Vorderschaft mit dem Sauer-Universalschlüssel. Diese Ausführung wartet als weiterem Extra mit einem Abzugsbügel aus robustem Aluminium auf. Die Kammergriffkugel ist hier gerändelt und mit dem Sauer-Logo versehen. Bei dem Magazin mit Leichtmetallboden kann je nach Kaliber zwischen einer Kapazität von 2 bzw. 3 Schuss und 5 Schuss gewählt werden.

Die Kammer mit Sonnenschliff
Ein besonderes optisches Highlight der 505 Iconic Elegance Gold Edition ist der Sonnenschliff, mit dem die Kammer veredelt wurde. Bei diesem wird die Oberfläche mit einer Schleifscheibe derart bearbeitet, dass ein vom Zentrum ausgehendes sonnenstrahliges Irisieren entsteht. Wenn die so behandelte Oberfläche bewegt wird, ändert sich der Einfallswinkel des Lichts und die geschliffene Fläche scheint im Kreis zu drehen.

Der Lauf
Die Sauer 505-Repetierbüchse ist mit einem kaltgehämmerten Lauf ausgestattet. Der ermöglicht höchst präzise Schüsse. Die Mündung ist mit einem M15x1-Gewinde für einen Schalldämpfer versehen. Er hat ein glattes Profil ohne Visierung, seine Länge liegt – zum Teil abhängig vom Kaliber – wahlweise zwischen 42 cm und 62 cm. Der Lauf des Sauer 505-Elegance Gold Edition ist wie seine anderen Stahloberflächen durch eine DLC-Beschichtung wirkungsvoll gegen Korrosion geschützt.
