From the super Magnum chamber in caliber 12/89, cartridges in calibers 12/70 or 12/76 can also be fired. The proven systems of the predecessor series, such as the Speedloading and Cut-Off system, have been improved. The semi-automatic Maxus 2 Camo Mobuc also scores with a slim receiver and advantageous balance.
Handling has been significantly improved by the enlarged trigger guard and bolt handle, as well as a wider loading window. The stable synthetic stock is covered with the camouflage pattern Camo Mobuc and features soft soft-touch inserts on the pistol grip and forend. The Inflex II stock cap technology and the stock comb made of Reactar gel minimize recoil and the rise of the semi-automatic shotgun.
Power-Drive-Gas-System™
The semi-automatic shotguns from the Browning Maxus series are semi-automatic gas-operated loaders. Two gas ports in the barrel divert the gas generated during firing and use it for the cycling process. The challenge is to divert enough energy even with weak loads, such as 28 g cartridges, so that no feeding malfunctions occur and the cartridges are reliably fed from the magazine into the chamber. Browning has solved this problem with the development of the innovative Power-Drive-Gas-System™, allowing loads from 28 g to 64 g to be fired without malfunctions.
Trigger and Safety
An extra-large, user-friendly push button for securing the Browning Maxus 2 semi-automatic shotgun is located on the trigger guard, directly in front of the trigger. A light push with the trigger finger from right to left is sufficient to disengage the safety. A red outline on the safety button serves as a visual signal, which is only visible when the safety is disengaged. The optimal arrangement and high ease of use of the safety lead to the shooter quickly and intuitively developing a routine for disengaging and engaging the Maxus 2. The bolt handle and trigger guard, as well as the magazine window, are comfortably large, making the shotgun easy to operate even with gloves. The trigger guard is slightly recessed at the bottom towards the chamber. This recess allows cartridges in caliber 12/89 to be precisely loaded into the magazine from below.
Barrel
The barrel of the Browning Maxus 2 Camo Mobuc is manufactured with a length of 71 cm or 76 cm. It is equipped with a 6 mm wide ventilated sight rail. The LPA front sight allows for quick target acquisition even in twilight. The top of the rail is finely guilloched. The barrel and chamber are hard chrome-plated on the inside, providing optimal rust protection. A special highlight is the Back-Bored barrel technology. The shotgun barrel slightly tapers from back to front, resulting in a smoother transition at the choke. This measurably increases shot speed, significantly reduces recoil, and greatly improves coverage. The package includes 5 interchangeable Invector-Plus choke inserts that can be changed according to hunting requirements or conditions at the shooting range.
Forend and Magazine
The forend of the Maxus 2 fits comfortably in the hand due to its ergonomic design. Additional soft-touch inserts made of soft rubber enhance grip. The slim design of the stock allows the shooter's hand to be very close to the sight line, promising exceptional maneuverability. At the end of the tube magazine, there is a closure cap that can be easily unscrewed. Under this closure cap is the magazine lock, which prevents the magazine from being loaded with more than two cartridges. By turning it a quarter turn with a key or screwdriver, the lock can be easily removed, allowing the magazine to be loaded with up to 4 rounds. If needed, a magazine extension can be mounted, increasing the magazine capacity by 4 or 6 rounds.
Cut-Off System
Another big point of the Maxus series is the ingenious Cut-Off system. With a fully loaded shotgun, it is possible to open the shotgun and cycle a cartridge from the chamber without feeding another from the magazine by flipping the "Cut-Off" lever. The Cut-Off magazine lock allows the semi-automatic shotgun to be safely transported with the system open and can be reloaded and ready to fire in seconds.
Speedload-Plus™
In small game hunting, every second counts. The Speedload-Plus™ system developed by Browning allows for maximum quick reloading of the shotgun. With the action open, the cartridge is pushed from below into the magazine and automatically loaded into the chamber. The chamber closes immediately, the shooter is ready to fire, and can react to targets that come into view during reloading. This system and the widened loading window facilitate loading and unloading of the shotgun. The bolt only needs to be pulled back when unloading the chamber; this is not necessary when unloading the magazine.
Buttstock & Inflex II™ Technology
Maximum shooting comfort was considered in the design of the buttstock of the Browning Maxus 2. The design of the stock with a straight stock back, the soft gel stock comb, and the Inflex II™ stock cap technology significantly dampen recoil. The construction of the stock cap directs the energy of the recoil downward. The shooter's cheek is protected, and the rise of the semi-automatic shotgun is minimized.
Additionally, stock spacers of different thicknesses can be mounted to extend the stock. The package also includes 4 plates for adjusting the optimal drop. Optionally, other sizes of Inflex II™ stock caps are available in widths of 12 mm, 20 mm, or 25 mm.

Power-Drive-Gas-System™
Die Selbstladeflinten aus der Browning Maxus-Serie sind halbautomatische Gasdrucklader. Durch zwei Gasentnahmebohrungen im Lauf wird das Gas, welches bei der Schussabgabe entsteht, abgeleitet und für den Repetiervorgang verwendet. Die Schwierigkeit besteht darin, auch bei schwachen Ladungen, wie 28 g Vorlagen, genug Energie abzuzweigen, sodass keine Ladehemmungen entstehen und die Patronen störungsfrei aus dem Magazin in das Patronenlager nachgeladen werden. Dieses Problem hat Browning durch die Entwicklung des innovativen Power-Drive-Gas-Systems™ gelöst, sodass Vorlagen von 28 g bis 64 g ohne Ladehemmungen verschossen werden können.
Abzug und Sicherung
Eine extra große, bedienfreundliche Drucktaste zur Sicherung der Selbstladeflinte Browning Maxus 2 befindet sich am Abzugsbügel, direkt vor dem Abzug. Ein leichter Druck mit dem Abzugsfinger von rechts nach links genügt, um die Waffe zu entsichern. Als optisches Signal dient eine rote Umrandung am Sicherungsknopf, die nur bei entsichertem Zustand sichtbar ist. Die optimale Anordnung und der hohe Bedienkomfort der Sicherung führen dazu, dass der Schütze sehr schnell und intuitiv einen routinierten Automatismus bei der Entsicherung und Sicherung der Maxus 2 entwickelt. Der Verschlusshebel und der Abzugsbügel sowie das Magazinfenster sind angenehm groß gehalten, sodass sich die Flinte auch mit Handschuhen einfach bedienen lässt. Der Abzugsbügel ist an der Unterseite zum Patronenlager hin leicht ausgespart. Diese Mulde bewirkt, dass auch Patronen im Kaliber 12/89 von unten präzise in das Magazin geladen werden können.
Lauf
Der Lauf der Browning Maxus 2 Camo Mobuc wird mit einer Länge von 71 cm oder 76 cm gefertigt. Dieser ist mit einer 6 mm breiten, ventilierten Visierschiene ausgestattet. Das LPA-Leuchtkorn ermöglicht auch in der Dämmerung eine schnelle Zielerfassung. Die Oberseite der Schiene ist fein guillochiert. Lauf und Patronenlager sind innen hartverchromt und bieten somit einen optimalen Rostschutz. Ein besonderes Highlight ist die Back-Bored-Lauftechnologie. Der Schrotlauf verjüngt sich von hinten nach vorne leicht und bewirkt einen weicheren Laufübergang am Choke. Dadurch wird die Schrotgeschwindigkeit messbar erhöht, der Rückstoß deutlich reduziert und die Deckung stark verbessert. Im Lieferumfang sind 5 wechselbare Invector-Plus Choke-Einsätze enthalten, die entsprechend der jagdlichen Anforderungen oder der Bedingungen auf dem Schießstand gewechselt werden können.
Vorderschaft und Magazin
Der Vorderschaft der Maxus 2 liegt aufgrund seines ergonomischen Designs angenehm in der Hand. Zusätzliche Soft-Touch-Einlagen aus weichem Gummi erhöhen die Griffigkeit. Durch den schlank gehaltenen Schaft liegt die Hand des Schützen sehr eng an der Visierlinie, was besondere Führigkeit verspricht. Am Ende des Röhrenmagazins befindet sich eine Verschlusskappe, die sich einfach abschrauben lässt. Unter dieser Verschlusskappe befindet sich die Magazinsperre, welche verhindert, dass sich das Magazin mit mehr als zwei Patronen laden lässt. Durch eine Viertel Drehung mit einem Schlüssel oder Schraubendreher lässt sich die Sperre einfach entfernen, sodass das Magazin mit bis zu 4 Schuss geladen werden kann. Bei Bedarf kann eine Magazinverlängerung montiert werden, die die Magazinkapazität um 4 bzw. 6 Schuss erhöht.
Cut-Off-System
Ein weiterer Bigpoint der Maxus-Reihe ist das geniale Cut-Off-System. Bei vollgeladener Flinte ist es möglich, durch das Umlegen des „Cut-Off“-Hebels die Flinte zu öffnen und die Patrone aus dem Patronenlager zu repetieren, ohne dass eine weitere aus dem Magazin zugeführt wird. Durch die Cut-Off- Magazinsperre kann die Selbstladeflinte mit geöffnetem System sicher transportiert werden und ist sekundenschnell wieder geladen und feuerbereit.
Speedload-Plus™
Auf der Niederwildjagd zählt jede Sekunde. Das von Browning entwickelte Speedload-Plus™-System ermöglicht ein maximal schnelles Nachladen der Flinte. Bei offenem Verschluss wird die Patrone von unten in das Magazin gedrückt und automatisch in das Patronenlager geladen. Die Kammer schließt sofort, der Schütze ist feuerbereit und kann während des Nachladens auf Ziele reagieren, die in sein Sichtfeld gelangen. Dieses System und das verbreiterte Ladefenster erleichtern das Be- und Entladen der Flinte. Der Verschluss muss lediglich beim Entladen des Patronenlagers zurückgezogen werden, beim Entladen des Magazins ist dies nicht nötig.
Hinterschaft & Inflex II™-Technologie
Bei der Konstruktion des Hinterschafts der Browning Maxus 2 wurde auf maximalen Schießkomfort geachtet. Das Design des Schafts mit geradem Schaftrücken, die weiche Gel-Schaftbacke und die Inflex II™-Schaftkappen-Technologie dämpfen den Rückstoß enorm. Der Aufbau der Schaftkappe bewirkt, dass die Energie des Rückstoßes abwärts geleitet wird. Die Wange des Schützen wird geschont und das Hochschlagen der Selbstladeflinte minimiert.
Zusätzlich können Schaft-Zwischenlagen in unterschiedlichen Stärken montiert werden, um den Schaft zu verlängern. Außerdem sind im Lieferumfang 4 Plättchen zum Einstellen der optimalen Senkung enthalten. Optional sind auch andere Größen von Inflex II™-Schaftkappen erhältlich in der Breite von 12 mm, 20 mm oder 25 mm.
