Gas-Checks are small tombak cups that are pressed onto the base of cast lead bullets. At the same time, calibration and bullet lubrication are performed. Gas-Checks are used when a V0 over 450 m/s is achieved. The gas pressures required for this speed generate such a high temperature that the lead would melt. The Gas-Checks are firmly pressed and anchored into the bullet during calibration. This prevents the lead from melting. (Show description in original language)

Gas-Checks sind kleine Tombak-Näpfchen, die auf den Boden der gegossenen Bleigeschosse gepresst werden. Gleichzeitig werden Kalibrierung und Geschossfettung durchgeführt. Gas-Checks verwendet man, wenn eine V0 über 450 m/s erreicht wird. Die zu dieser Geschwindigkeit benötigten Gasdrücke erzeugen eine so hohe Temperatur, dass das Blei anschmelzen würde. Die Gas- Checks werden beim Kalibrieren fest in das Geschoss hineingedrückt und verankert. So wird ein Anschmelzen des Bleis verhindert.
