Photo tips for selling your item

Good photos spark interest and sell. With these seven tips, you show your item from its best – and most honest – side.

1. Clean and tidy: Remove dust, fingerprints, or stains before you photograph.
2. Calm background: Avoid messy or distracting backgrounds so the item stays the focus.
3. Enough light: Make sure there’s good lighting, preferably daylight. If none is available, use lamps or artificial light.
4. Use perspectives: Photograph from above, the side, and at an angle, preferably in landscape format, to show the features well.
5. Don’t zoom in too close: Show the whole item in the picture. On a smartphone, tap briefly on the object to focus.
6. Multiple photos: Show the item from different angles so buyers have enough info to decide.
