Tanfoglio ist ein italienischer Kurzwaffenhersteller für Sportwaffen der 1940 mit Waffenteilen begann. Gegründet wurde das Unternehmen bereits 1900 von Bortolo Tanfoglio. Zu Beginn des Unternehmens lag das Hauptaugenmerk des kleinen Unternehmens noch auf der Fertigung von Baugruppen für Schrotflinten. Erst nach dem zweiten Weltkrieg im Jahre 1953 begann die Fertigung von Kurzwaffen und Bauteilen für Kurzwaffen. In den folgenden Jahren wurde das Unternehmen mehrmals neuformiert und umstrukturiert. Der große Coup gelang im Jahre 1986 als Fratelli Tanfoglio die ersten Kurzwaffen für die damal neuen IPSC-Wettkämpfe entwarf. Heute zählen Waffen von Tanfoglio zu einer festen Größe im IPSC-Sport. Mehrere Europameisterschaften und sogar eine Weltmeisterschaft, wurden mit Pistolen von Tanfoglio gewonnen.
