„Die nächste Sturmgewehr-Evolution“, so nennt Heckler und Koch selbst die 5. Generation der erfolgreichen HK416-Serie. Als AEG bringt die HK416 A5 diesen Anspruch im Kaliber 6 mm BB auf die Airsoft-Spielfelder. Dass sie genau dort ihren Platz hat, beweist die Wettkampf-Tauglichkeit Out-of-the-Box mit MOSFET, Tuning-Shoot-Up und Präzisionslauf. Letzterer weist einen Durchmesser von lediglich 6,03 mm auf und führt das 6 mm BB in Kombination mit dem einstellbaren Shoot-Up enorm kontrolliert bis zur Mündung mit M14x1-Gewinde für Tracer- und Schalldämpfer-Einheiten. Allein optisch sticht das Magazin mit dem aktuellen Design der Generation 3 heraus. Es fasst 120 Schuss, ist wahlweise allerdings auf 30 Schuss umschaltbar. Typisch für die A5-Version der HK416 ist die Bedienung vollständig beidseitig. Der Feuerwahlhebel, der Verschlussfang und der Magazinhalter sind beidseitig bedienbar und auf der oberen Schiene der Picatinny-Quadrail ist eine Flip-Up-Visierung angebracht.
