American Defense Manufacturing · Buying Guide
Choose QD and Picatinny interface according to actual use
American Defense Manufacturing Picatinny Harris-type bipod mount FDE is classified here not only by features: Fit, variant, and practical impact on your setup are decisive.
Check fit first
Does the product fit your setup?
Fits well if optic or Harris-type bipod, Picatinny rail, height, and lever position match exactly.
Does not fit well if device base, rail standard, or desired optical axis height are not clearly defined.
Pre-purchase check Before ordering: device interface, Picatinny profile, height, lever variant, position, and clearance. Check the chosen variant against the designation on the existing system and the manufacturer’s documentation.
A bipod does not get better on the rifle by having as many adapters as possible in between. An additional interface only makes sense if it actually creates a missing connection and provides an advantage in operation.
The AD-BP connects a Pic
Picatinny rail on the fore-end with the classic mount for a Harris bipod. The ADM-QD lever does not replace the bipod and does not change its leg length or swivel function; it makes the entire bipod mount quickly detachable.
System boundary: Picatinny rail → AD-BP with QD Auto Lock → compatible Harris bipod → shooting rest. Rail and bipod are additionally required. The similarly named AD-BP-P2 is a different, modular mount.
When the QD lever really helps
The strongest reason to buy is not the colour, but the quick switch between supported rest and a slimmer fore-end. During transport, the bipod, which protrudes sideways and downwards, can be stored separately. At the range, it can be reattached to the same rail slot without having to loosen the rail clamp with tools every time.
Those who keep the bipod permanently mounted gain significantly less from QD. In this case, a simple rigid Picatinny-to-Harris solution may be lighter or cheaper. Those who already have a direct M-LOK, ARCA, or specific chassis mount should first check whether a direct mount saves an interface.
Don’t confuse AD-BP and AD-BP-P2
ADM currently offers two technically different Harris solutions. The AD-BP shown here has the classic Harris connection. The newer AD-BP-P2 uses a modular 170-S base and is explicitly described by the manufacturer for Harris-S swivel bipods; after removing its adapter, ADM also names certain Atlas, Magpul-17S, and ARMS-17S applications.
These P2 approvals do not apply to the AD-BP. A similarly looking QD lever or the same manufacturer is not enough for compatibility transfer. The decisive factors for purchase are therefore the underside of the existing bipod and the exact model designation of the mount.
Set Auto Lock cleanly on the Picatinny rail
To open, press the locking button and fully unfold the lever. When the mount sits on the desired rail slot, the lever should close with clear hand pressure but not be forced. If there is play or the force is too high, the clamping tension is adjusted with the lever open.
To do this, press the open lever against the base until the adjustment nut protrudes on the opposite side. ADM describes small corrections of one to two flats and a recheck after each step. Fingers or a flat screwdriver are sufficient; no proprietary tool is required.
Our assessment
The AD-BP is a convincing solution for a clearly defined existing setup: Harris mount present, Picatinny rail present, quick removal desired. Exactly there it brings a practical advantage without turning the bipod into a different system.
The most common misconception is confusing it with the AD-BP-P2. Those who want to mount a Harris-S swivel bipod or an ARMS-17S footprint should not buy based on colour or basic shape, but choose the designated P2 or 170-S solution.
Instructor tip: Set the support point first
Mark the rail slot before adjusting where the bipod has enough clearance from barrel, gas block, and handguard. A support mounted too far back shortens the support base; a mount too far forward can hinder operation or rest changes.
User tip: Pre-tension clamp without bipod
First, adjust only the mount on the rail. This allows judging the lever force without the weight of the unfolded bipod tilting the base. Only then attach the Harris bipod and check the entire connection for play.
User tip: Always use the same slot
After transport, reinsert the QD mount into the same Picatinny slot and press it in the same direction before closing. The sc...
afft a reproducible mechanical stop; seating and lever tension are still checked with every attachment.
User tip: Check swivel freedom before use Fully swing the legs and lever through their range of motion. If the bipod legs, fore-end, or lever touch each other, do not continue with more force; then the model, position, or counterpart is unsuitable.
Black-Raptor short summary: Buy if: a compatible Harris bipod should be quickly removable from a Picatinny rail and the pictured AD-BP version is sought. Do not buy if: a bipod should be included, an ARCA-/M-LOK direct solution is sought, or explicit Harris-S, Atlas, Magpul-17S, or ARMS-17S compatibility is required.
System logical alternatives:
AD-170: modular QD base for other ADM mounts, no complete Harris mounting
AD-170-VPG: full Picatinny riser instead of bipod adapter

FAQ
Is a Harris bipod included? No. The mount is delivered, which connects a compatible Harris bipod to a Picatinny rail.
Does the AD-BP fit ARCA or M-LOK? Not directly. The lower interface of this version is Picatinny. For ARCA or M-LOK, a dedicated direct mount or an additional explicitly fitting rail is required.
Is this the modular AD-BP-P2? No. The shop images show the AD-BP with classic Harris connection. P2 specifications for Harris-S, Atlas, Magpul 17S, or ARMS 17S do not apply to this model.
Does the QD adjustment require special tools? No. ADM describes the adjustment with fingers or a flat screwdriver. Corrections are made in small steps with the lever open.
Can the lever close in both directions? Yes. According to ADM, the Auto-Lock system can be configured so that the lever closes forward or backward. Collision freedom with the bipod must be checked beforehand.
When is a rigid mount more sensible? When the bipod remains permanently on the rifle and quick removal is not needed. Then QD offers little additional benefit and a simpler direct solution may suffice.
Technical data practically read
Purchase-critical data Device interface, Picatinny profile, build height, lever variant, position, and clearance.
Practical consequence A properly adjusted mount enables reproducible seating and quick change; it does not replace checking point of impact.
Avoid limits and bad purchases
Important before mounting and use Set QD tension according to manufacturer specifications. Check locking before each use and check point of impact after disassembly.
Scope of delivery The scope of delivery includes only the version explicitly named in the existing product text and chosen variant. Depicted firearms, optics, or other accessories are not included unless explicitly listed.
Black-Raptor classification: This version makes sense when the purchase-critical dimensions and interfaces are clearly confirmed in advance. If fit is unclear, first check model designation and existing mount.
Our product assessment from the Black-Raptor team
Dealer contribution from Black Raptor
At ADM
AD-BP appeals to us with its clearly defined task: A suitable Harris bipod gets a quickly attachable connection to a compatible rail. For the selection, this clear interface function is, in our view, the decisive advantage. The FDE version complements a setup where the colour of the accessories is also deliberately coordinated.
ADM specifies 6061-T6 aluminium and a Type-III hard-coat anodising for the mount. The adjustable QD Auto Lock system can be adjusted according to the manufacturer with fingers or a flathead screwdriver, without proprietary tools. We positively rate this combination of clear material specification and adjustable clamping. We do not claim to have conducted a separate load test or shooting test with this version.
Our recommendation is to check the exact fit of the existing bipod before ordering. The AD-BP-P2 is a different mount; its additional compatibilities do not apply to the AD-BP offered here. ADM also points out for the AD-BP that the TAC lever can collide with the bipod and is therefore not compatible. Anyone looking for the right AD-BP version and who has confirmed the mating parts will find here, in our view, a sensibly equipped quick-release solution. The bipod itself is required separately.
