1× Red dot · 4 MOA · Picatinny-QD
UTG SCP‑DS3026W: fast 4-MOA dot with honest fit check
Short aiming distance, both eyes open, clear cheek weld: The compact ITA red dot sight combines a red or green 4-MOA dot with an integrated QD mount for Picatinny. Brightness is manually selected via the rotary ring, the CR1620 battery sits on top.
The crucial point: The model does not magnify and does not replace a fine precision scope. Before purchase, at least rail profile, 20 mm free mounting space, height, desired co-witness, and the individually perceived dot image must fit.
Red dot sight honestly assessed
Our honest assessment
The SCP‑DS3026W is a closed 1× red dot sight for users who want simple red/green illumination and an integrated quick-release mount. With 4 MOA, the dot remains quickly visible at short to medium training distances but covers about 11.6 cm at 100 m mathematically. For small target zones or fine groups, a 3-MOA dot or a magnifying optic is usually more suitable.
Leapers lists the exact model as available on 08/25/2026. The current manufacturer page states 71 mm length and 165 g weight, although the product family is still called "2.6 inch" and older dealer data often ru
and 66 mm or 139 g respectively. For the purchase decision, we use the current official dimensions; the data deviation remains internally marked for review.
Fits well if …
… you’re looking for a robustly classified 1× red dot sight for a real Picatinny rail.
… a 4-MOA dot for quick target acquisition is more important than the smallest possible target coverage.
… red/green, manual brightness, and an integrated QD lever fit your operating routine.
Fits less if …
… you have an 11-mm prism rail, a pistol footprint like RMR/RMSc, or a Weaver mount without your own adjustment.
… automatic brightness, shake-awake, night vision modes, or an especially fine dot are mandatory.
… a specific co-witness height must be achieved without an additional riser.
Purchase check and proven compatibility
Rail: Picatinny, not footprint
The integrated base is specified for Picatinny and requires about 20 mm rail length according to the manufacturer. The sight is not directly mounted on RMR-, RMSc-, Docter-/Noblex-, or other pistol footprints.
Mounting height and co-witness
The optical center height is 25 mm. Leapers specifies a 1/2″ riser for A2 standard sights for absolute co-witness or 3/5″ for lower 1/3 co-witness. This does not apply universally to every rear sight, upper, or rail height.
Suitable 1/2″ riser
For a setup with about 12.7 mm additional height, the UTG Super Slim Picatinny Riser 13 mm is a comparable option. Still check slot length, total height, and the actual sight picture before purchase; the link is not a co-witness approval.
Check dot pattern before zeroing
Leapers points out that a reflected dot can show slight spreading or blur. A verified buyer report describes a strongly blurred dot and noticeable parallax on a possibly defective sample. Therefore, reduce brightness, check the dot with both eyes, and don’t just zero if there is a significant deviation.
What the features practically change
4 MOA Single Dot
The single dot remains visually steady and quickly recognizable. Its target coverage grows with distance: about 2.9 cm at 25 m, 5.8 cm at 50 m, and 11.6 cm at 100 m.
Red or green, manually controlled
Color and brightness are selected via the analog rotary ring. This is easy to understand but requires a conscious on/off check; automatic adjustment or motion activation is not documented.
Integrated QD lever
The optic can be mounted on a suitable Picatinny rail without separate rings. QD does not automatically mean repeatable point of impact: check rail slot, lever tension, and zero after removal.
CR1620 from above
The battery compartment is accessible from the top. According to the current manufacturer packing list, a CR1620 is included. Remove the battery before long-term storage; keep button cells especially safe from children.
Typical misbuys, disadvantages, and limits
Not a true “micro” pistol sight: 71 × 60 × 56.4 mm and 165 g are compact for a closed tube sight but significantly larger than modern MRDS optics.
No magnification: 1× supports quick target acquisition but does not enlarge the target or point of impact. For small targets at distance, another optic type is more suitable.
4 MOA remains a compromise: quickly visible but not maximally fine. High brightness can make the dot appear optically larger or frayed.
Don’t overextend parallax specification: The manufacturer states a fixed parallax setting at infinity. This is no guarantee for error-free point of impact at every eye position and every short distance.
Mounting, zeroing, maintenance, and safety
Adjust QD tension
Weapon vol
fully unloaded. Open the lever, mount and fully lock it. If it sits loose or the lever does not close cleanly, adjust the tension in the open position in small steps with the included 2.5 mm hex key. The lever should close deliberately but not with excessive force.
Confirm zero point
Elevation and windage adjust in 1/2 MOA per click. Always confirm zero from a stable position and with shot groups. After removal, impact, or tension change, check point of impact again.
Clean lens gently
Remove sand and dust first with a soft cloth or cotton swab. Do not clean glass with fingernails, do not grease or disassemble the optic, and store it dry and free from corrosive chemicals.
Secure button cell
Insert CR1620 with positive pole facing up and close battery cover completely. Do not charge, heat, disassemble, or dispose of in household waste. If the compartment closes insecurely, take the optic out of service and store the battery childproof.
Source-based instructor and user tips
Do not confuse brightness with sharpness control
Set as bright as necessary, not as bright as possible. An overly bright dot covers more target and can appear frayed; a lower setting is often sufficient against bright backgrounds.
Build with both eyes open
Unlimited eye relief allows flexible head positions. Still, train a repeatable cheek weld: a 1× dot does not compensate for changing weapon position or sloppy trigger control.
Establish QD routine
Always use the same rail slot and mounting direction, fully close the lever, and check for play before training. Accept recurring zero only through your own control groups.
Take individual reports seriously, don’t generalize
Publicly available reviews are sparse. The negative report about a blurry dot and parallax justifies an incoming inspection but does not prove a serial defect.
Which alternative fits better?
More housing, same 4 MOA concept
The UTG SCP-RD40RGW-A red dot sight 1× with 4 MOA is the larger comparison option. It uses a different design and battery; check size, mount, and specs separately before switching.
Longer QD-ITA version
The UTG SCP-DS3039W red dot sight 1× with 4 MOA also offers red/green and integrated QD but is longer. Useful if compactness is less important and the larger design fits the setup better.

FAQ about the UTG SCP‑DS3026W
Does the red dot sight fit every 21-/22-mm rail? No. Leapers specifies Picatinny and about 20 mm of required rail space. Fit is not automatically guaranteed for Weaver, air rifle prism rails, or pistol footprints.
How large is the 4‑MOA dot on the target? Calculated, it covers about 2.9 cm at 25 m, 5.8 cm at 50 m, and 11.6 cm at 100 m. Perceived size and sharpness also depend on brightness, light, and the eye.
What battery is needed? A CR1620 with 3 V. It is inserted with the positive pole facing up; a battery is included according to the current manufacturer packing list.
Does it achieve absolute co-witness with A2 sights? Not without height adjustment. Leapers mentions a 1/2″ riser for absolute and 3/5″ for lower 1/3 co-witness with A2 standard sights. The specific setup still needs to be checked.
Does the zero hold after removal? QD makes removal easier but does not guarantee perfect repeatability. Always use the same slot and stop, and confirm the point of impact afterward with a control group.
What to do if the dot appears heavily frayed? Reduce brightness, check battery and lenses, and inspect the dot image. If it remains clearly unusable or shifts noticeably with eye position, do not continue zeroing but have the optic professionally checked or checked by the dealer.
Is a riser included? No. The official packing list names optic, CR1620, elastic cover, cleaning cloth, 2.5‑mm hex key, and manual. An additional riser must be chosen accordingly.
Black Raptor · Target Image before Marketing
The SCP‑DS3026W fits if 4 MOA, red/green, and Picatinny QD are consciously chosen. What matters are not “CQB” terms but rail fit, mounting height, clean lever tension, and a clearly controllable dot image.
We advise from instructor and user perspectives: with reliable model data, openly named limits, and a process that considers mounting, zeroing, and repeatability control together.
