Petromax HK500 – for HK500 light, accessories and camp operation
When darkness falls in the camp and only the campfire glows, you need reliable light. That’s exactly what the Petromax HK500 stands for. For over a hundred years, it has been known as one of the most famous pressure lamps for expeditions, campsites, and outdoor adventures.
The lamp produces an impressively bright light that can illuminate large areas – ideal for campsites, work areas, or outdoor kitchens. It runs on kerosene or paraffin oil and works completely independently of electricity or batteries.
The heart of the HK500 is the classic pressure lamp principle: the fuel is vaporized under pressure and burned in the mantle. This creates the characteristic, extremely bright light for which Petromax lamps are known worldwide.
Thanks to its robust construction from brass, steel, and heat-resistant glass, the HK500 is designed for years of use – whether in camp, garden, or on expeditions.
Why this product?
The HK500 and its accessories work as a system. Fuel, light guidance, protection, and maintenance determine whether the lamp shines reliably and is used effectively.
better use of the lamp in camp
more control over light, heat, or operation
useful addition for longer outdoor evenings
Practical tip: Check lamp before evening
Check fuel, mantle, seals, and accessories before it gets dark. A prepared lamp saves stress when the camp needs light.

Our assessment (practical added value)
The HK500 is much more than a simple camping lamp. With its enormous light output, it can illuminate entire camp areas. Many outdoor fans use it as the central light source in camp.
A big advantage is the complete independence from electricity. Especially on longer outdoor tours, camping, or power outages, the lamp remains reliably ready for use.
Thanks to the extensive accessory system, the HK500 can also be expanded in many ways – from directed lighting to a small outdoor cooking station.
Tips from outdoor practice
Side reflector for directed light
A side reflector bundles the light forward. This makes the HK500 ideal for illuminating camping tables or outdoor kitchens.
Radiator for additional heat
The Petromax radiator uses the lamp’s heat and emits it as radiant heat. This creates a small heat source for cool evenings in camp.
Cooking attachment for outdoor kitchen
The cooking attachment uses the lamp’s waste heat to heat water or prepare small meals.
Transport box protects the lamp
Many
Users transport their HK500 in a special transport box. This keeps the lamp well protected during travel or in the vehicle.
Spare parts to have in the camp
Mantles, seals, and needles are classic spare parts for high-pressure lamps. A small spare parts kit therefore belongs in every outdoor gear.
Features & Construction
classic high-pressure technology with mantle
brass pressure tank for long service life
robust construction for outdoor use
large glass cylinder for even light distribution
maintenance-friendly design with spare parts supply
