Vector Optics SCOL-46 Tauron 6-24x50SFP HD – practically classified
When you buy a scope, it’s not the longest datasheet text that counts – but whether it fits your application. Vector Optics SCOL-46 Tauron 6-24x50SFP HD is an honest Vector Optics solution for shooting sports and hunting: above-average strong in the budget to lower mid-range segment, but deliberately not classified as a tough law enforcement/duty optic.
Distance logic: high magnification provides detail reserve for range, field edge, and precise work – but requires a steady hold and parallax control.
Why this product?
✔ Clear classification by magnification, reticle plane, and click value ✔ Suitable for normal hunting and range applications ✔ Good value without premium or duty marketing ✔ Practical: zero, clicks, mounting height, and eye relief are crucial
Key features
Clear classification by magnification, reticle plane, and click value
Suitable for normal hunting and range applications
Good value without premium or duty marketing
Practical: zero, clicks, mounting height, and eye relief are crucial
For beginners to advanced users who want a usable setup
Not intended as a replacement for uncompromising high-end law enforcement optics
Our assessment
Our assessment: Vector Optics SCOL-46 Tauron 6-24x50SFP HD is interesting exactly when you want a functional optic that can do more in everyday use than its price suggests. Vector Optics is not EOTECH, Kahles, or Schmidt & Bender – and this honest classification is important. For normal shooting sports, everyday hunting, and many hunting applications, you get a very usable price-performance ratio.
SFP means: the reticle remains optically the same size; hold marks are usually only correct at a defined magnification.
Trainer tip: mount first, then zero – not the other way around. Tighten the mount cleanly and evenly, check eye relief and level, then zero in. For MIL: 0.1 MIL = approx. 1 cm at 100 m, 2 cm at 200 m, 3 cm at 300 m. For MOA: 1 MOA ≈ 2.9 cm at 100 m.
Suitable for
Suitable for: Suitable for sport shooters, hunters, and range users looking for a strong budget/mid-range optic.
Not suitable for: Not suitable for users expecting uncompromising law enforcement/duty robustness, extreme low-light performance, or premium tracking.
Features & operation
Choose magnification range consciously by application: 1–6x for speed, high magnification for detail work
Check parallax if you work precisely at distance
Illumination helps with quick acquisition but does not replace a clean reticle
Mounting height and eye relief determine quick target acquisition
Technical data – clearly explained
Magnification: 6–24x
Reticle: MPX1 (SFP / 2nd focal plane)
Objective diameter: 50 mm
Ocular diameter: 38 mm
Eyepiece length: 60 mm
Tube: 30 mm
Exit pupil: 8.3–2.2 mm
Eye relief: ~100 mm
Field of view: 5.5–1.4 m at 100 m (or 3.4–0.85°)
Total length: 365 mm
Weight: 763 g
Adjustment: 0.1 MIL per click (1/10 MIL, 0.1 MRAD, 1 cm at 100 m)
Reticle plane: SFP – reticle remains optically the same size
Click value explained: 0.1 MIL corresponds to approx. 1 cm at 100 m, 2 cm at 200
m and 3 cm at 300 m

Note:
Always check compatibility, mounting, secure fit, and function before use. After each mounting of optics or point-of-impact relevant parts, shoot a control group. Vector Optics is a strong budget to mid-range solution for civilian use – not to be classified as uncompromising law enforcement/duty gear.
FAQ
What use is this scope suitable for? For normal hunting and shooting sports applications when you want a decent optic in the lower to mid-price range. It is not a law enforcement/duty optic like an EOTECH or high-end military system, but strong for realistic civilian use.
What does the magnification mean in practice? Low magnification helps with quick target acquisition and movement. High magnification provides more detail but requires a steady hold, proper parallax, and a stable rest.
What is important when zeroing? First check the mounting, then zero cleanly at 100 m. Then check the click value: 0.1 MIL = approx. 1 cm at 100 m, 1 MOA = approx. 2.9 cm at 100 m.
Is the glass intended for tough professional use? No, honestly classified: Vector Optics is a strong budget/mid-range solution for sport shooters and hunters, but not intended as uncompromising duty optics for law enforcement use.
Which mount fits? Tube diameter, height, and weapon decide. Important is a reproducible fit without tension and with sufficient eye relief.
Especially with Vector Optics, the right classification determines the benefit: Don’t choose by datasheet alone, but by use, mounting, target distance, and real application. (Show description in original language)
