Maverick-IV · 3 MOA · two mounting heights The timer runs, you get into position – and instead of searching for a tight field of view, the red dot is right on the target image. The Vector Optics SCRD-60 is a compact 1×20 red dot sight for short to medium distances. Its 3-MOA dot remains quickly visible without unnecessarily covering the target. High QD and low Weaver mounts are included, so you can choose the mounting height that fits your platform. Check if the SCRD-60 fits your setup
Our honest assessment
The Maverick-IV Mini MIL is a sensibly equipped red dot for sport, training, and airsoft if you want robust rubber armor, two mounting options, and classic manual operation. The 3-MOA dot is a good compromise between speed and precision. The downside: there is no motion sensor, so brightness must be switched consciously. Also, a user clearly assigned to the SCRD-60 reports that the protected elevation and windage caps are somewhat awkward to grip due to the high rubber flanks.
Fits well – and fits less well
Fits well if … … you are looking for a closed 1× sight for dynamic exercises and short to medium distances, use a 21-mm Weaver/Picatinny rail, and want to choose between low and lower 1/3 co-witness mounting.
Fits less well if … … you expect automatic activation, interchangeable multi-reticle, finer clicks than 1 MOA, or true magnification. For small targets at longer distances, a scope or prism system is the more suitable class.
What the features mean in practice euten
3 MOA: fast, but not huge The dot covers approximately 4.4 cm at 50 m and 8.7 cm at 100 m. This supports quick target acquisition and remains sufficiently controllable for typical red dot distances.
1-MOA clicks One click theoretically shifts the point of impact by about 1.45 cm at 50 m or 2.9 cm at 100 m. This is straightforward but coarser than 0.5-MOA adjustments.
Two mounting heights The high QD cantilever mount brings the dot center to 41 mm and is designed as a Lower 1/3. The low mount is intended for flatter cheek welds and other platform geometries.
Side CR2032 slot The battery can be changed from the side. The sight does not need to be removed from the rail for this – a practical advantage because the mounting position remains unchanged.
Rubber over 6061-T6 aluminum The coating protects the housing from typical scratches and impacts during transport. However, it makes the adjustment caps less accessible – exactly this limitation is also mentioned in the researched user experience.
Manual 10-step brightness You can adjust the dot to the ambient light. The manufacturer explicitly does not mention a motion sensor; turning off and battery checks remain part of your routine.
Trainer and user tips
Brightness only as high as necessary: A dot that is too bright appears larger and frayed. Choose the lowest setting that remains clearly visible in front of the target. Check after mounting: Place the chosen mount stress-free on a clean rail, follow the carrier manufacturer's instructions, and check fit and zero after the first stress cycles. Do not overtighten caps: The rubber flanks protect but, according to user reports, make access more difficult. Work with a dry grip and without force; damaged seals or threads cost more time than a steady hand. Pack a CR2032 as a spare: The scope of delivery does not clearly specify the battery. A fresh brand cell in the range bag prevents an unnecessarily short training day.
Useful alternative in the shop
Same design idea, different color If you want the rubber coating in FDE instead of black, the Vector Optics SCRD-61 Maverick-IV Mini SOP is the obvious sister: also 1×20, 3 MOA, two Weaver mounts, and 41-mm Lower 1/3 setup. You can find more tested models in the Vector Optics collection and among the airsoft optics.
Adjustment 1 MOA per click; elevation and windage range each more than 45 MOA; manufacturer parallax specification: under 3 MOA at 50 yd.
Design 68 mm long; 6061-T6 aluminum with black rubber coating; manufacturer net weight 140 g without mount.
Mount Weaver; QD cantilever mount with 41 mm height to dot center plus low Weaver mount.
Power 1× CR2032, side inserted; no motion sensor and no reliable runtime information on the current manufacturer page.
Environment Operating temperature −20 to +55 °C. The current manufacturer page states IP56; older dealer information with IP66/IP67 is deliberately not adopted.
SCRD-60 Maverick-IV 1×20 Mini MIL, honeycomb filter, high QD cantilever Weaver mount, low Weaver mount, flip-up protective caps, cleaning cloth, and manual. Since sources contradict regarding battery delivery, a CR2032 is not definitively listed as included here.
Mounting, safety, and care
Mounting and checks should only be done on a fully unloaded or de-energized carrier. Before each use, check secure fit, clear lenses, and functioning controls. After a shock, battery change, or mount change, check zero... unkt auf einem geeigneten, sicheren Stand kontrollieren.
FAQ Is the SCRD-60 suitable for 21-mm Picatinny? The manufacturer lists the mounting interface as Weaver; German distribution info states 21-mm Picatinny/Weaver. Still check rail size, slot spacing, and secure fit on your specific mount. Which mount should I use? The high QD mount is designed for 41 mm to the center of the dot and Lower 1/3. The low mount is suitable if your cheek weld or platform requires a flatter sight line. Is the dot suitable for astigmatism? Astigmatism can make any LED dot appear star-shaped or frayed. Test a red dot with your own eyes; a prism optic with etched reticle may be a better choice if you have strong astigmatism. Does the sight turn on with movement? No. The current manufacturer info lists no sensor. Plan a fixed on/off routine and a spare CR2032 battery. Can I use a magnifier? Basically yes, if height, eye relief, and rail space match. One reported use experience describes the SCRD-60 combined with the Maverick-IV 3×22; compatibility of your individual setup must still be checked separately.
