SCFRM-17 · 11-mm-Dovetail · VOD/ACRO When the red dot should sit as low as possible above the 11-mm rail On the small caliber or air rifle, it’s not about more height but the right interface: The Vector Optics SCFRM-17 connects an 11-mm dovetail rail with a VOD or ACRO-compatible closed red dot sight – flat, light, and without a Picatinny detour. Before buying, three points matter: 11-mm dovetail on the firearm, matching VOD/ACRO footprint on the sight, and enough clearance for mounting. View matching SCRD-63
Our honest assessment
The SCFRM-17 is not a universal plate but a very specific problem solver. It makes sense if a closed VOD/ACRO sight should be mounted directly and low on an 11-mm dovetail rail. The manufacturer names the SCRD-63 family as the intended use and assigns VOD to the ACRO footprint. The advantage is the low saddle height of 6 mm: The sight line stays closer to the firearm. The disadvantage is the same consequence – with housings, rear sights, loading ports, or strongly curved system cases, the tight clearance can become a problem. Therefore, check not only the footprint but also the actual clearance in advance.
Fits well if … your firearm has an 11-mm dovetail rail, your closed red dot is VOD/ACRO-compatible, and you want the lowest possible sight line.
Fits less if … you use Picatinny/Weaver, deliberately need a raised cheek position, or your sight’s footprint only looks similar but is not clearly confirmed.
What the design means in practice dert
Low Sight Line 6 mm saddle height keeps the sight close to the rail. This can support a more natural cheek weld but does not replace individual checking of stock and head position.
Clear Interfaces The mount grips an 11-mm dovetail rail at the bottom and accepts VOD/ACRO on top. It does not convert to Picatinny or Weaver.
31 g Additional Weight The CNC-machined 6061-T6 aluminum construction remains light. Still, sight and mount must be considered together in the system’s balance.
Model-Specific Instead of Arbitrary According to Vector Optics, VOD is compatible with the ACRO pattern. For third-party optics, locking, dimensions, and approval should still be specifically confirmed.
Instructor and User Tips
Dry check before threadlocker comes into play: unload the firearm, clean contact surfaces, mount without tension and check that sight, bolt travel, and operation remain free. Tighten screws evenly and only according to the firearm, sight, and mount manufacturer’s specifications; Vector Optics does not publish a model-specific torque value for the SCFRM-17. Confirm again after each mounting: mark or document firm fit, then check point of impact at the range. A low mount does not automatically improve the cheek weld – if the point must be searched for, check stock support and head position.
SCFRM-17 or Another Mount?
SCFRM-17 Right for VOD/ACRO on 11-mm dovetail with low profile.
SCFRM-14 / SCFRM-15 Vector Optics lists SCFRM-14 as low mount and SCFRM-15 as riser for VOD on Weaver. These variants are not 11-mm dovetail solutions.

FAQ Is the SCFRM-17 suitable for Picatinny or Weaver? No. It is designed for an 11-mm dovetail or prism rail. For VOD on Weaver, Vector Optics lists other mounts. Is VOD the same as Aimpoint ACRO? Vector Optics lists VOD as compatible with the ACRO footprint. For optics from other manufacturers, locking, clearance, and specific approval should still be checked before purchase. What do 11 mm and 6 mm mean? 11 mm here refers to the dovetail rail width and the manufacturer also states 11 mm total mount height. The saddle height from the rail is 6 mm. What torque is correct? No model-specific value is published in a manufacturer manual for the SCFRM-17. Therefore, use only the specifications of the firearm, sight, and mount manufacturer and do not guess a value. Must the firearm be re-zeroed after mounting? At least one point of impact check is mandatory. After any change to optic or mount, fit, function, and point of impact must be confirmed.
