The binoculars are equipped with an excellent optical system housed in a robust casing. The 20x42 version is the model in the Apex Steady series for those who want to observe at greater distances. Despite its strong magnification, it still provides a field of view of 58 m at 1,000 m.
The Image Stabilizer
The Apex Steady 20x42 HD employs the latest stabilization technology. The binoculars feature an optical prism compensation with a 2-axis gimbal. Additionally, the stabilizer has a 2-mode function. Mode 1 is optimized for scanning wide areas. Mode 2, the ultra-stabilized mode, is designed for detailed recognition of a single object.
The Optics
The prism system of the binoculars is made of BaK-4 glass (Barium Crown Glass). This delivers brighter and sharper images than the materials typically used. The HD lenses are coated with UBX multi-coating and PXA phase coating. These coatings ensure high light transmission and provide contrast-rich, detailed, clear images. Thanks to the LPE lens coating (Lotus Pearl Effect), which causes water to bead off, rain does not affect the quality. The roof prism optimally directs light to the eye with its SHR coating (Super High Reflection). The LE eyepieces and twist-up eyecups make the binoculars easily suitable for eyeglass wearers. The increased eye relief ensures that even with the eyecups twisted down, the field of view is not compromised.
The Housing
Optics and electronics are housed in a robust casing with a protective and tactile rubber coating. Operation is intuitive. The binoculars are splash-proof according to IPX 4 and are filled with nitrogen to prevent internal fogging due to temperature fluctuations. The stabilizer is powered by a standard AA battery (included).

Der Bildstabilisator
Bei dem Apex Steady 20x42 HD kommt die modernste Stabilisierungstechnologie zum Einsatz. Das Fernglas ist mit einem optischen Prismenausgleich mit 2-Achsen-Gimbal ausgestattet. Darüber hinaus verfügt der Stabilisator über eine 2-Modi-Funktion. Der 1. Modus ist dafür optimiert, weite Flächen abzusuchen. Der 2. ultrastabilisierte Modus ist für die detailreiche Erkennung eines einzelnen Objekts gedacht.
Die Optik
Bei dem Prismensystem des Fernglases ist das BaK-4-Glas (Barium-Kronglas) verbaut. Das liefert hellere und schärfere Bilder als das üblicherweise verwendete Material. Die HD-Linsen sind mit der UBX-Mehrschichtenvergütung und der PXA-Phasenbeschichtung versehen. Diese Vergütungen sorgen für eine hohe Lichtdurchlässigkeit und für kontrast- und detailreiche, klare Bilder. Dank der LPE-Linsenvergütung (Lotus Perl Effect), der Wasser abperlen lässt, beeinträchtigt auch Regen die Qualität nicht. Das Dachkantprisma leitet mit seiner SHR-Vergütung (Super High Reflection) das Licht optimal zum Auge. Die LE-Okulare und herausdrehbaren Augenmuscheln machen das Fernglas problemlos für Brillenträger geeignet. Der erhöhte Augenpunkt gewährleistet, dass auch bei eingedrehten Okularen das Sehfeld nicht beeinträchtigt wird.
Das Gehäuse
Optik und Elektronik sind in einem robusten Gehäuse mit einer schützenden und haptisch angenehmen Gummiarmierung untergebracht. Die Bedienung erfolgt intuitiv. Das Fernglas ist spritzwasserdicht nach IPX 4 und bei Temperaturschwankungen gegen ein Beschlagen innen mit Stickstoff gefüllt. Betrieben wird der Stabilisator mit einer handelsüblichen AA-Batterie (im Lieferumfang enthalten).
