The Optikauz from the company Waldkauz is a compact, medium-sized hunting backpack made of Loden, tailored for hunting with modern equipment. Its main compartment has a capacity of 20 l, and in the 5 outer pockets, additional gear with a total volume of 29 l can be accommodated.
The outer pockets are designed – 3 of them elongated – to hold optical instruments such as attachment devices, binoculars up to 8x56, and spotting scopes. Optionally, they can be subdivided with felt inserts or supplemented with additional pockets (not included). Additionally, there is a zippered pocket in the main compartment for important and valuable items, as well as two mesh pockets in the front pocket.
The main compartment is closed with a drawstring and also has a zippered opening on the front side. The lid is made of double felt, under which a jacket or the signal vest can be tucked if needed. The ergonomic shoulder straps and the sturdy carrying handle are made of leather and have a soft felt backing. A chest strap ensures a good fit during longer hikes and stalking, and the rifle sling can also be secured to it. The back panel is padded, quilted, and reinforced with a plate. The backpack overall and its closures are silent, and the side pockets can be easily opened with one hand. The Loden is in green and brown, blending seamlessly into the surroundings of the hunting area.

Der Optikauz von der Firma Waldkauz ist ein kompakter, mittelgroßer Jagdrucksack aus Loden, der von seiner Konzeption her auf die Jagd mit modernem Equipment zugeschnitten ist. Sein Hauptfach hat ein Fassungsvermögen von 20 l und in den 5 Außentaschen kann man nochmal Ausrüstung mit einem Gesamtvolumen von 29 l unterbringen.
Die Außentaschen sind so geschnitten – 3 von ihnen länglich –, dass sie optische Instrumente wie Vorsatzgeräte, Ferngläser bis 8x56 und Spektive aufnehmen können. Optional können sie noch mit Filzeinsätzen unterteilt oder durch Zusatztaschen ergänzt werden (nicht im Lieferumfang). Zusätzlich befindet sich im Hauptfach noch eine Reißverschlusstasche für wichtige und wertvolle Gegenstände sowie zwei Netzfächer in der Fronttasche.
Das Hauptfach wird mit einem Kordelzug verschlossen und hat zusätzlich eine Reißverschluss-Öffnung an der Frontseite. Der Deckel ist aus doppeltem Filz, unter ihn kann man bei Bedarf eine Jacke oder die Signalweste klemmen. Die ergonomischen Trageriemen und der stabile Tragegriff sind aus Leder gefertigt und haben eine weiche Filzunterlage. Ein Brustriemen sorgt bei längeren Wanderungen und bei der Pirschjagd für einen guten Sitz, außerdem kann an ihm der Gewehrriemen fixiert werden. Das Rückenteil ist gepolstert, gesteppt und mit einer Platte verstärkt. Der Rucksack insgesamt und seine Verschlüsse sind lautlos, die Seitentaschen lassen sich bequem einhändig öffnen. Der Loden ist und Grün und Braun gehalten und fügt sich so optisch problemlos in die Umgebung des Reviers ein.
