The sister cartridge with rim to the 7x57, introduced in 1893, was developed for combined hunting weapons.
The 7x57 R is ideal for hunting roe deer and medium-sized game at ranges up to 180m.
Preferably, rapidly expanding projectiles such as the simple RWS soft point projectile, the RWS double core projectile, the RWS pointed projectile, or the RWS H-jacket projectile should be used.

Die im Jahre 1893 vorgestellte Schwesterpatrone mit Rand zur 7x57 wurde für kombinierte Jagdwaffen entwickelt.
Die 7x57 R ist ideal für die Jagd auf Reh und mittelschweres Hochwild in Einsatzbereichen bis zu 180m.
Vorzugsweise sollten schnell deformierende Geschosse wie das einfache RWS Teilmantel-Geschoss, das RWS Doppelkern-Geschoss, das RWS Kegelspitz-Geschoss oder das RWS H-Mantel-Geschoss verwendet werden.
Eines der Geheimnisse der außergewöhnlichen Präzision des RWS KEGELSPITZ-Geschosses (KS-Geschoss) liegt in der optimalen Abstimmung der Mantelwandstärke und der Härte des Bleikerns.
