Gas checks are small tombak cups that are pressed onto the base of cast lead bullets. At the same time, calibration and bullet lubrication are performed. Gas checks are used when a velocity of over 450 m/s is achieved. The gas pressures required for this speed generate such high temperatures that the lead would melt. Gas-Checks sind kleine Tombak-Näpfchen, die auf den Boden der gegossenen Bleigeschosse gepresst werden. Gleichzeitig werden Kalibrierung und Geschossfettung durchgeführt. Gas-Checks verwendet man, wenn eine V0 über 450 m/s erreicht wird. Die zu dieser Geschwindigkeit benötigten Gasdrücke erzeugen eine so hohe Temperatur, dass das Blei anschmelzen würde. Die Gas- Checks werden beim Kalibrieren fest in das Geschoss hineingedrückt und verankert. So wird ein Anschmelzen des Bleis verhindert.
