The use of silencers is becoming increasingly popular, and the barrels of rifles are therefore usually shorter for a compact length. Blaser does not hold back here either and has specifically developed the caliber 8.5x55 Blaser to achieve the best possible ballistic values. Even barrels with lengths of under 50 cm can achieve the same values as weapons with longer barrels.
In addition to the bullets from Barnes, Nosler, and SAX, the probably most well-known bullet now joins the ranks of this caliber. Norma Oryx bullets are known for their bonding technology, in which the core and jacket are fused together in such a way that they do not separate upon impact.
This bullet also features a soft lead tip and a highly modern jacket construction. Together, these characteristics ensure optimal expansion and an extremely high residual weight.
