This beautiful yak leather suede collar with a sliding chain is round-stitched with an 8-fold braided polyester line. Yak leather is three times as tough and durable as cowhide of the same thickness, yet still as soft as moose leather. The Finnish tanner buys the hides directly from the Mongolian nomadic herders – without intermediaries. This way, the nomads receive 100% of the value of their valuable product. All hooks and rings are hand-stitched. Due to the 2 sewn and hand-waxed threads, the hand stitches of the AKAH saddlers are extremely durable – in contrast to a machine stitch. Yak-Leder ist dreimal so zäh und robust wie Rindsleder derselben Dicke, aber dennoch so soft wie Elchleder.
