The ERA® SILENCER was developed with the aim of achieving the best possible suppression with a compact design and minimal weight – all while being fully Magnum-compatible and having a long lifespan. The most important requirement for a silencer in hunting use is to effectively suppress the muzzle blast to protect the hearing of both humans and dogs. The suppressors of the SOB series are designed as telescopic silencers (Over-Barrel). A part of the suppressor extends backward over the barrel, allowing for very good suppression values to be realized with a short net length. Additionally, the typical first shot noise found in other silencers is reduced to an absolute minimum. Recoil and muzzle flash are also significantly diminished. Der ERA® SILENCER wurde mit dem Ziel entwickelt bei kompakter Bauweise und möglichst geringem Gewicht eine bestmögliche Dämpfung zu erzielen und dies bei voller Magnum-Tauglichkeit und langer Lebensdauer. Die wichtigste Anforderung an einen Schalldämpfer im jagdlichen Einsatz ist eine möglichst effektive Dämpfung des Mündungsknalls zum Schutz des Gehörs von Mensch und Hund. Die Dämpfer der SOB-Baureihe sind als Teleskopschalldämpfer (Over-Barrel) ausgeführt. Dabei ragt ein Teil des Dämpfers nach hinten über den Lauf und es lassen sich bei geringer Netto-Baulänge sehr gute Dämpfungswerte realisieren. Zudem wird der bei anderen Schalldämpfern übliche Erstschussknall auf ein absolutes Minimum reduziert. Auch Rückstoß und Mündungsfeuer sind deutlich gemindert.
