Mit der Hornady Superformance V-Max im Kaliber .17 Hornet (1,3 g – 20 grs.) wird eine überzeugende Leistungssteigerung erreicht. Eine Geschwindigkeit von bis zu 60 m/s mehr als üblich, ist mit dieser Zentralfeuerpatrone auch ohne höheren Gasdruck, subjektiv höheren Rückstoß oder lauteren Schussknall möglich. Auch auf größere Distanzen kann man problemlos einen optimalen Schuss mit hoher Tötungswirkung antragen. Das Geschoss spricht hierfür sofort nach dem Auftreffen auf den Wildkörper an und zerlegt sich. Augenblickswirkung wie man sie sich wünscht und die Hinterlandgefährdung wird auf einem Minimum gehalten. Des Weiteren kommen hier die Balgjäger auf ihre Kosten. Außer einem 4,5 mm großen Einschussloch, weisen die Stücke (im Normalfall), keine weiteren Beschädigungen auf. Wiederladen ist möglich. Extrem abbrandstabil.
