Petty was often compared to Hemingway. Not a typical artist cliché, a man with a strong jaw, tweed coat, and steely muscles who had a passion for big game hunting in Africa.
Through his monthly paintings in Esquire and other commercial illustrations in the 1930s, he quickly gained national recognition.
With his groundbreaking use of the airbrush technique, his Petty Girls appeared three-dimensional and strikingly alive, soon winning international fans.
"Silver Blonde" was one of the few close-ups that Petty created. It showcases his ability to reflect sophistication and beauty without the full figure image.
The silver hair is also unusual, as most of his girls were golden-haired blondes or redheads.
The
Petty Girl Zippo lighter Series II was a limited edition produced by the
ZIPPO Manufacturing Company.
The Zippo is from 1999 and has the number 20690. The item is brand new, never used, in the original packaging with a certificate of authenticity.

Petty wurde oft mit Hemingway verglichen. Kein übliches Künstlerklischee, ein Mann mit starkem Kiefer, Tweedmantel und stählernen Muskeln, der eine Leidenschaft für die Großwildjagd in Afrika hatte.
Durch seine monatlichen Gemälde in Esquire und andere kommerzielle Illustrationen in den 1930er Jahren erlangte er schnell nationale Bekanntheit.
Mit seinem bahnbrechenden Einsatz der Airbrush-Technik wirkten seine Petty Girls dreidimensional und auffallend lebendig und gewannen bald internationale Fans.
"Silver Blonde" war eine der wenigen Nahaufnahmen, die Petty geschaffen hat. Es zeigt seine Fähigkeit, Raffinesse und Schönheit ohne das vollständige Figurenbild widerzuspiegeln.
Das silberne Haar ist auch ungewöhnlich, da die meisten seiner Mädchen goldhaarige Blondinen oder Rothaarige waren.
