Très bel étui modèle 1916 – celui avec lequel les Sammies ont embarqué pour l’Europe en 1917 – et qui a été fabriqué jusque la seconde guerre mondiale. L’engin qui rentre dedans c’est le Colt 1911 ou 1911 A1.
A noter qu’il existe un modèle 1912 dit« stacking swivel » à passant de cuir suspendu au dessus de l’étui lui-même pour la Cavalerie. Tout ça précède les étuis web (tissés) qui sont venus ensuite.
Graton & Knight est un fabricant de pièces de cuir pour l’industrie (étuis, lanières, courroie de transmission…) et pour l’armement fondé en 1851 à Worcester (comme la sauce) Massachusetts. L’entreprise connu un développement réellement national avec plusieurs implantations sur le territoire des USA. Elle fournit de l’équipement de cuir à l’armée américaine dans les deux guerres mondiales. Elle cessa ses opérations en 1962.
Nous avons ici un très beau modèle 1916 de fabrication Graton & Knight de 1943. Une très bonne pièce avec encore son cordon.
Cuir bien souple et fragile de nulle part avec d’excellentes coutures sans faiblesses. Il peut tout à fait être porté régulièrement.
Une pièce bien jus de terrain en TBE. Marquages bien lisibles. Le marquage interne est du fabricant en suivi de lot.
Très bonne pièce de la seconde guerre mondiale pour compléter un beau 1911 quelle qu’en soit la variante ou bien en reconstitution.
