Développée et fabriquée en France, la munition GPA 9.3x62 179 grains utilise une balle monobloc en alliage de cuivre, totalement sans plomb. Sa conception repose sur le principe de fragmentation programmée, activée uniquement lors de l’impact dans un milieu liquide. À l’impact, la compression des fluides dans le canal central provoque un champignonnage rapide de la partie avant du projectile, pouvant atteindre jusqu’à trois fois son diamètre initial.
Sous l’effet de la résistance rencontrée, les pétales se séparent progressivement du noyau résiduel. Ces pétales, de faible masse, génèrent des lésions secondaires importantes tandis que le noyau principal conserve une pénétration suffisante pour créer très fréquemment un orifice de sortie.
Cette combinaison assure une hémorragie marquée et une chute rapide de la pression artérielle, entraînant un arrêt cardio-respiratoire efficace.
Avec une vitesse initiale élevée et une trajectoire tendue pour ce calibre, la GPA 179 grains offre un excellent compromis entre pénétration, expansion contrôlée et efficacité terminale, tout en garantissant un comportement constant et reproductible en conditions de chasse réelles.
