Sur tête plombée classique, il se pêche en linéaire, lent ou rapide, ou en gratté. En drop shot, il reste en place au-dessus du fond. Sur une tête Ned, il se tient tête en bas sur le fond, comme un poisson qui se nourrit. Le montage texan, grâce aux fentes, permet de prospecter les herbiers et les zones encombrées : l'hameçon reste caché, puis se dégage à la touche quand le corps creux s'écrase. Avec sa caudale très mobile, il reste efficace en récupération ultra lente, un atout sur les sandres et perches peu actifs.
