Das Berger VLD Hunting Gewehrgeschoss gehört zu den flachst schießenden Jagdgeschossen der Branche. Die VLD Hunting Gewehrgeschosse haben das gleiche Design wie die VLD Target Gewehrgeschosse, jedoch mit einem dünneren J4 Precision-Mantel für eine schnelle Expansion bei der Jagd auf Wild. Die VLD Hunting Geschosse sind darauf ausgelegt, 2-3 Zoll in die Vitalorgane einzudringen, bevor sie expandieren und eine massive Wundhöhle von bis zu 15 Zoll erzeugen. Dies sorgt für maximalen Schaden an Organen/Gewebe und extreme hydrostatische Schockwellen, die zu einem ethischen Tötungserfolg beitragen. Die VLD Hunting Gewehrgeschosse haben ein Sekanten-Ogive-Design, das den Luftwiderstand während des Fluges zum Ziel verringert. Dieser reduzierte Luftwiderstand sorgt dafür, dass das VLD flacher schießt, weniger Winddrift erfährt und eine höhere verbleibende Geschwindigkeit als alle anderen Geschosse aufweist. Eine bevorzugte Lade-Technik für die VLDs ist das Berühren der Ziehspuren für Einzelgeschosse, obwohl einige Gewehre einen Abstand von bis zu 0,150 Zoll zu den Ziehspuren bevorzugen.
