La MP40 (Maschinenpistole 40) fu progettata da Heinrich Vollmer nel 1940, con lo scopo di equipaggiare i soldati tedeschi con un’arma d’assalto. Ha usato caricatori di 32 cartucce da 9 mm e la sua portata effettiva era di circa 100-150 metri. Era un’arma molto affidabile e molto economica da produrre.
