UTG Airgun Mount · 25.4 mm · 9–11 mm
Direct dovetail mount with QD levers and spring-loaded stop pin
A 25.4 mm scope is to be mounted on a narrow airgun or .22 dovetail rail without first converting to Picatinny: This is exactly what the UTG set RQ2D1156 is designed for. Two medium-height, 25 mm wide rings clamp onto adjustable 9–11 mm rails; a spring-loaded stop pin supports retention in loaded airgun setups.
The purchase limit: 9–11 mm only describes the clamping range. Profile angle, flanks, stop pin hole, objective clearance, and airgun approval of the optic must still fit the specific system.
Model status: Leapers lists the RQ2D1156 as discontinued. Order it only if this exact model fits your setup; new availability and later reordering may be limited.
Check fit step by step
Our honest assessment
The RQ2D1156 is not a universal ring but a direct solution for 1-inch/25.4 mm main tubes on matching .22/airgun dovetail rails. The advantage lies in the clear interface: no additional adapter, two individually positionable rings, and an adjustable QD lever per ring.
The downside belongs to the purchase advice: A nominal 11 mm rail can geometrically differ, un
A QD clamp does not automatically ensure repeatable zero just because a lever is present. For spring-piston air rifles, the stop pin, rail fit, and scope clearance must all work together.
Works well if …
… your scope has a 25.4 mm main tube and the base is a geometrically matching 9–11 mm dovetail rail.
… you want to remove the optic using adjustable QD levers and need to freely choose the position of both rings.
… a spring-loaded stop pin makes sense for your airgun setup.
Not suitable if …
… you need 30 or 34 mm rings, Picatinny/Weaver clamps, or a one-piece mount.
… the dovetail geometry is unclear or the rail does not allow a clean contact on both clamping surfaces.
… you automatically assume guaranteed repeatable zero from “QD.”
Purchase check: six dimensions and interfaces decide
1. Main tube
The ring diameter is 1 inch or 25.4 mm. The 25 mm in the old dealer designation refers to the ring width and must not be confused with the tube diameter.
2. Rail profile
UTG specifies an adjustable clamping range of 9 to 11 mm. Additionally, flank angle, height, and shape of the dovetail rail must fit. Picatinny and Weaver are different interfaces.
3. Mount height
The medium version has a saddle height of 15 mm. With a 25.4 mm tube, its axis is calculated to be about 27.7 mm above the rail surface. However, the actual outer diameter of the objective housing is decisive.
4. Ring position
Each ring has 25 mm of clamping surface available. Between the adjustment range, objective bell, and eyepiece, two suitable, stress-free positions must be available.
5. Stop pin counterpart
With a matching recess hole, the pin can engage. Without a hole, it is spring-loaded and pushed back according to the manufacturer. A hole is therefore not mandatory, but a reliable profile fit always is.
6. Load on the optic
Especially with spring-piston systems, not only the mount but also the scope must be suitable for the resulting load. The stop pin does not replace this clearance.
What the features practically do
Adjustable QD levers
The levers make removal and reattachment easier. Their preload must be set so that the clamp closes definitively without overloading the rail or mechanism. After each reattachment, the point of impact must be checked.
Spring-loaded stop pin
The pin can form an additional counterpart against shifting if a recess hole is present. On rails without a hole, it retracts; then profile fit and clamping tension carry the setup.
Six cover screws per ring
The wide, multi-screwed cover construction distributes the holding force. It only protects a sensitive scope if the screws are tightened evenly and according to the optic’s specifications.
Aluminum with steel insert
UTG describes precision-machined aluminum with matte black anodizing and a spring-loaded clamping plate with a steel insert. This combines low weight with a stressed contact point in the lever mechanism.
Typical bad purchases, disadvantages, and limits
25 mm misread: The ring width is 25 mm; the inner diameter is 25.4 mm.
Dovetail confused with Picatinny: These rings do not clamp directly on Picatinny/Weaver rails.
Objective clearance only estimated: “Medium” is not a clearance for a specific objective diameter. Outer housing, barrel, system sleeve, and rear sight must be measured.
QD confused with zero hold: Removal is quick; unchanged point of impact must be practically confirmed after reattachment.
Stop pin overrated: It only helps in addi
mmenspiel mit passender Schiene, korrekt eingestellter Klemmung und airgunfester Optik.
Assembly, Inspection and Maintenance
Preparation
Unload and secure the system. Keep dovetail flanks, ring undersides and main tube clean and free of grease. Have damaged edges or burrs professionally checked before assembly.
Set QD tension
Fully and evenly mount both rings. Adjust lever tension according to manufacturer instructions so the levers close with clear force – neither loose nor only with force.
Align scope without tension
Loosely place the scope, set eye relief in natural shooting position and align reticle vertically. Tighten cap screws in small steps diagonally; the allowed torque of the scope takes priority.
Final check
Check ring gap, objective clearance and operating paths. After the first shooting series as well as after removal and reassembly, check fit, reference marks and point of impact.
Practical and Inspection Tips
Make movement visible
After zeroing, apply a fine, removable reference mark on the rail and ring. This way you can detect early if a ring shifts despite the stop pin.
Standardize reassembly
Always use the same ring position and the same lever sequence. Then shoot a control group. A standardized procedure makes deviations visible instead of leaving them to chance.
Don’t just measure objective clearance
Check not only static clearance but also adjustment ring, objective cap and loading movement. A setup can be free on the workbench and still hit in the shooting position.
Consider airgun system
Spring piston, compressed air and CO₂ have different requirements. The decisive factor is the specific approval of the scope and the check of the mounted overall system.
Which alternative fits better?
Direct dovetail rings without QD
If quick removal is not important, the UTG ACCUSHOT 25.4 mm airgun rings are the simpler comparison direction. Profile, height and stop pin counterpart still require inspection.
Switch to Picatinny/Weaver rings
If your system already has a suitable Picatinny/Weaver base, the UTG RG2W1156 rings for 25.4 mm scopes are the more appropriate interface. They are not a direct alternative for a bare 9–11 mm dovetail rail.
Sensibly complement assembly and interface
For a planned interface change, the UTG Dovetail-to-Picatinny/Weaver adapter in a 2-pack can be interesting; its profile fit and the load of the setup must be checked separately. You can find more options in the UTG collection, under mounts and accessories for shooting sports as well as in Shooting Sports & Range.

FAQ about the UTG RQ2D1156
Does the rail absolutely need a stop-pin hole? No. UTG describes the spring-loaded pin for rails with or without a recessed hole. With a matching hole it can engage; without a hole it is pushed back.
Do the rings fit every 11 mm rail? No. 11 mm is within the clamping range, but flank angle, profile height and shape must also fit. The rings must engage straight and fully on both sides.
Are the RQ2D1156 suitable for Picatinny or Weaver? Not directly. They are designed for 9–11 mm .22-/Airgun dovetail. For Picatinny or Weaver you need a suitable base or rings specifically designated for that.
Is the RQ2D1156 still produced? Leapers lists the model as discontinued in their resource section. This does not change the documented dimensions and interfaces, but may limit new availability and later reordering. If you don’t specifically need this model, compare a currently available mount with the same tube diameter, rail profile and suitable height before buying.
How high does the optic sit? The saddle height is 15 mm. With a 25.4 mm tube, the calculated axis height is about 27.7 mm above the rail surface. The actual outer diameter counts for objective clearance.
Is re-mounting guaranteed to be point-of-impact consistent? No. The QD levers make re-mounting easier but do not replace a control group. Position, clamping force, dirt and rail geometry affect repeatability.
Are the rings suitable for spring-piston air rifles? The stop pin is intended for stressed airgun applications. Still, rail fit, lever tension and the explicit airgun approval of the scope must all match.
Black Raptor · Interface before accessories
The RQ2D1156 are a coherent direct mount if 25.4 mm tube, 9–11 mm dovetail and medium height really fit together. The QD lever saves steps, the stop pin supports retention – neither replaces dimension checking nor point-of-impact verification.
We classify mounts not by dealer term, but by tube diameter, rail profile, height and actual load case. That’s exactly where it’s decided whether two rings become a clean setup.
