Long-range work with clear system logic
The target is far, the rest is steady – now image, parallax, and adjustment have to match.
The Vector Optics SCOL-63 Orion Pro Max 6–24×50 HD SFP combines high detail magnification with a consistent MIL system. The 24× number alone isn’t decisive: this scope rewards a clean rest, correctly set parallax, and the knowledge that the 6-MIL per click division only holds true at 24×.
Select SCOL-63

Our honest assessment
The SCOL-63 is a 6–24×50 second focal plane scope for controlled shots at medium to longer distances. The fine, illuminated center dot, 0.1-MIL clicks, zero stop, and turret lock create a coherent operating concept for range, benchrest-oriented training, and suitable hunting situations.
Its limits are clear too: 753 g net weight, a narrower field of view, and a darker image at high magnification make it less suited as a fast stalking or dynamic optic. IPX4 protects against splashing water but is not a certification for submersion. The manufacturer’s claim of 750 G shock resistance also doesn’t replace a premium proof for uncompromising duty tracking.

Fits well if … you mostly work rested at medium to longer distances, want a MIL reticle with MIL turrets, and consciously use SFP at 24× for true-to-scale holdover marks.

Less suitable if … you want a lightweight stalking scope, a wide field of view for moving targets, reliable reticle measurements at every magnification, or a proven premium/duty optic.

What the features practically do

6–24× and 50-mm objective 6× keeps orientation and field of view comparatively usable; 24× shows more target and hit details. Simultane
g become more noticeable, the eyebox more demanding, and the image darker in low light.

VOR-6 MIL in SFP The reticle remains visually the same size. Its 0.5-MIL increments and the 0.06-MIL center point are true to scale at 24× according to the original reticle sheet. At other magnifications, you should not use the increments as true MIL without verification.

0.1-MIL clicks One click shifts the point of impact by 1 cm at 100 m mathematically. Reticle and turrets use the same unit; a MOA conversion is unnecessary for this model.

Side Focus from 10 yd The side focus helps adjust the target image and parallax from about 9.1 m to infinity. For precision, control by head movement counts more than the printed distance number alone.

Zero Stop and Turret Lock The elevation stop makes it easier to return to the zero you sighted in. The lock protects against unintentional adjustment – but neither replaces a verification group after mounting or transport.

Illuminated center point Six red brightness levels improve center visibility in poor contrast. However, the illumination does not turn the scope into a night optic.

Instructor and user notes

Focus reticle first: According to the original manual, go to maximum magnification, set parallax to infinity, and adjust the diopter ring on a neutral background so the reticle appears sharp immediately.
Really check parallax: After focusing, slightly move your head. If the reticle shifts on the target, fine-tune the side focus until no noticeable relative movement remains.
Don’t overtighten mounting: The Orion manual specifies a maximum of 16 in-lb on the ring screws. If your mount requires a lower value, follow the mount manufacturer’s specification.
Practical feedback with limits: Clearly attributable buyer reports mention good results on .22 LR and .222 Remington and a reasonable price-performance ratio. Individual reports are not proof of caliber, tracking, or durability; some reviews also confuse SFP and FFP. For technical statements, rely on manufacturer data and the original manual.

SFP or FFP – which alternative fits better?
The SCOL-63 fits if you prefer a consistently fine-looking reticle and mainly use hold/measurement values at 24×. If you change magnification often and still want to use the MIL increments without conversion, an FFP scope is the more consistent alternative. For fast targets at short range, a significantly lower magnification range is more sensible. Suitable options can be found among our sport and range optics .

Technical data with practical interpretation

Model SCOL-63 · Orion Pro Max 6–24×50 HD SFP

Optical system 6–24× · 50 mm · fully multi-coated · SFP

Scope of delivery

Scope SCOL-63, flip-up lens covers, sunshade, magnification lever, Allen key, cleaning cloth, and manual.
Important for mounting: The international manufacturer specifications and current Black-Raptor product media do not list mounting rings as a guaranteed part of this offer. Therefore, rings are not promised; plan accordingly
e 30-mm-mount separately.

Mounting, Safety and Care
Completely unload the firearm, point it in a safe direction, and choose the mount suitable for the firearm and rail. The scope must not touch the barrel or action. Check eye relief, horizontal reticle, and free operation in the real shooting position; only then tighten evenly with the correct torque. Always shoot a test group after mounting.
Never look into the sun through the scope. First blow off lenses or clean with a soft brush, then only work on them with a suitable lens cloth and optical cleaner. Moving parts are lubricated from the factory and should not be re-oiled. Do not store in a heated vehicle or where sunlight can be focused through the objective.

FAQ
At what magnification are the MIL markings accurate? For the VOR-6-MIL-SFP reticle of this model, the indicated divisions are accurate at 24×. At lower magnification, the reticle remains the same size while the target image changes.
Is the SCOL-63 an FFP scope? No. It is an SFP scope in the second image plane. Contrary dealer or user information refers to other Orion variants or is incorrect.
Are the turrets in MIL or MOA? The SCOL-63 works with 0.1 MIL per click and a VOR-6-MIL reticle. The previous MOA tag was incorrect for this model.
Is the scope suitable for twilight and night? The 50-mm objective and coating help with image brightness, but 24× reduces the exit pupil and thus the brightness reserve. The red reticle illumination is not night vision technology.
Which mounting rings are needed? The main tube has a 30 mm diameter. Ring height and interface must fit the firearm, rail, and objective clearance. Mounting rings are not guaranteed as part of this offer.
Is the scope waterproof? The manufacturer specifies IPX4 and nitrogen filling. This protects against splashing water and internal fogging but is not rated for submersion. Dry off after moisture and store dry.
