NEXTORCH rStar · Multi-spectrum Helmet Light
Compact close-range light with white, red, green, IR and separate IR marker
The rStar combines several light sources in a lightweight 50-g housing with a flexible arm. It is designed for close range, equipment checks, and compatible helmet or MOLLE setups – not as a long-range searchlight.

Black Raptor – Product Assessment
From our dealer team · Editorial classification
For work directly on equipment, we like the flexible lamp arm on the rStar. It allows the light head to be aimed independently of the base angle of the mount. NEXTORCH specifies white light with 80 and 8 lumens as well as red, green, and infrared light sources. This makes the lamp a specialized addition for close range.
Powering with a single AA battery is a straightforward concept. The manufacturer also describes a supplied MOLLE clip and Velcro as mounting options. A helmet rail must still fit specifically; none of the options provide universal helmet approval. IR is not a visible light color and requires suitable compatible technology.
Our practical tip: For close work, first select the low white light setting and aim the head at the work surface. The runtime values of various light ka
Do not mix light channels. IPX4 means splash protection, not submersion capability. If you want to illuminate paths or distant areas, you should also provide a lamp designed for that purpose.

Fits well if … / Fits less well if …
Fits well if … you are looking for a lightweight close-range light with white, red, green, and IR, ARC-Rail/MOLLE/Velcro fit your setup, and AA-based power supply is desired.
Fits less well if … you want to brightly illuminate paths or larger areas, don’t have compatible night vision equipment, or expect universal approval for every helmet and rail system.
Purchase check: light channels, mounting, and power
White light: 80 lumens high and 8 lumens low – clearly designed for close range and immediate work area.
Colors and IR: Red 1 lumen, green 3 lumens, 940-nm IR plus separate IR marker. IR requires compatible night vision equipment.
Mounting: ARC-Rail mount, MOLLE clip, and Velcro strap are provided. Rail profile, approval, space, and possible collisions must be checked on the specific setup.
What the features do in practice
White 80 / 8 lumens high is suitable for immediate orientation and work in close range; low reduces glare and saves energy.
Red and green The low visible outputs are intended for short close-range tasks. They do not replace strong white light.
940-nm IR The IR channel is intended for compatible night vision equipment. Without suitable optics, the function is practically not meaningfully assessable for the normal user.
Flexible arm The lamp head can be aimed independently of the base angle. Before use, check whether freedom of movement and hold fit with helmet, hearing protection, or other equipment.
Limits, disadvantages, and typical misbuys
Close-range light confused with searchlight: 80 lumens are intended for immediate tasks, not for longer distances.
ARC-Rail understood as universal: rail profile, mounting location, and manufacturer approval of the specific helmet must be checked separately.
IPX4 overrated: IPX4 means splash protection, not submersion protection.
14500 equated with AA: intended are AA alkaline or suitable 1.5-V AA Li-ion cells. Many 14500 batteries operate at 3.6/3.7 V and are not electrically equivalent.
Technical data with practical interpretation
White light 80 lm high / 8 lm low – for close range and immediate work area.
Colors and IR Red 1 lm, green 3 lm, IR 940 nm plus separate IR marker – multiple channels in one compact system.
Power 1 × AA alkaline or suitable 1.5-V AA Li-ion cell; maximum runtime according to available product data 38 hours.
Design 133 × 30 × 41 mm; 50 g without battery – light enough for mounted close-range use.
Protection IPX4 and 2 m shock resistance according to available product data – splash protection, no submersion protection.
Mounting ARC-Rail, MOLLE clip, and Velcro strap – check against real setup before purchase.
Scope of delivery
NEXTORCH rStar, ARC-Rail mount, MOLLE clip, and Velcro strap.
Safe use and care
Do not shine directly into eyes. Use IR functions only with suitable compatible equipment. Before each use, check rail/clip/Velcro, flexible arm, and battery compartment for secure fit and visible damage.
After moisture, dry surface and mounting. Transport spare batteries protected against short circuit and use only the intended cell type.
FAQ
Is the rStar a searchlight for longer distances? No. With 80 lumens, it is clearly classified as close-range and work light.
Can I use the IR function meaningfully without night vision equipment? No. The IR channel is intended for compatible night vision equipment.
.
Does the ARC mount fit every helmet? That shouldn’t be assumed across the board. Rail profile, mounting location, and approval of the specific helmet must be checked.
Can I use a 14500 battery? Not without explicit approval. Intended are AA alkaline or suitable 1.5-V AA Li-ion cells; many 14500 cells have a significantly higher voltage.
Is the rStar waterproof? It is rated IPX4 against splashing water. This is not protection for submersion.
Black Raptor Buying Guide
Multiple light channels – but clearly a close-range solution.
The rStar is interesting if mounting, spectra, and night vision compatibility fit your real setup. If white light output and range are the priority, another lamp concept is the better choice. (Show description in original language)
