The UT30 HL combines wide work light, a focused spot, and subtle red light in a lamp unit weighing only 41 g. When gloves, tools, or wet hands make the button inconvenient, you switch the white light on after activating the sensor with a short hand movement.

Our honest assessment
The UT30 HL is primarily a very lightweight headlamp for close-up work, touring, camping, and emergency bags. Spot and flood can be used separately; together they deliver up to 320 lumens and up to 55 m beam distance. This keeps the surroundings clear without making the lamp unnecessarily large.
The limits: IPX4 means protection against splashing water, not submersion. The 640-mAh battery is integrated and cannot be swapped for a full spare battery on the go. For long nights at high output, quick long-range reconnaissance, or constant heavy rain risk, a more powerful model is the better choice.
Fits well if …
you’re looking for a lightweight headlamp for the workshop, roadside assistance, camping, trails, or your emergency kit; really use spot, flood, and red light; and USB-C charging is more important to you than a replaceable battery.
Less suitable if …
you regularly need to illuminate well beyond 55 m, need a waterproof lamp for diving, want to change the battery during use without a charging break, or expect helmet, bike, and universal clips included in the package.

Gesture control: helpful but use consciously
When the sensor is activated, a hand movement within about 10 cm switches the white light on or off; a blue indicator signals the active sensor. This is practical with gloves or dirty hands. In very tight workspaces, you should deactivate the function so that nearby objects or movements don’t switch it unintentionally.
User tip from the documented operating logic
First choose the appropriate white light mode and then activate the sensor. Use floodlight more for mounting and reading, spot more for the path; the combination is worthwhile when overview and range are more important than maximum runtime.

Charging, care, and safe handling
Fully charge the lamp before longer trips and check the colored battery status when switching on or changing modes. Keep the USB-C port and seal clean and dry; after moisture, dry first, then charge. Do not shine directly into eyes. For long-term storage, check the battery regularly instead of storing the lamp fully discharged.
