The long pointed shape of the stainless steel blade, hand-ground, is just right for stabbing and opening the fish. The serrated spine of the knife is for scaling. To weigh the fish, you hold the open knife by the strap attached to the blade base. The leader with the fish on the hook is hung over the knife's spine and slid along the grooves until the knife is perfectly horizontal. The engraved numbers indicate the weight. Before weighing, the fish should be stunned with the ball on the knife.

Das PUMA „waagemesser“: Die ideale Kombination für Sportangler in der handlichen Form eines Taschenmessers. Die lange spitze Form der rostfreien Klinge, handgeschliffen, ist genau richtig zum Abstechen und Öffnen des Fisches. Zum Schuppen ist der gezackte Messerrücken. Um den Fisch zu Wiegen, hält man das geöffnete Messer an dem Riemen, der am Klingenansatz befestigt ist. Das Vorfach mit dem Fisch am Haken hängt man über den Messerrücken und schiebt entlang den Rillen solange, bis das Messer genau waagerecht steht. An den gravierten Zahlen ist das Gewicht abzulesen. Vor dem Wiegen ist der Fisch mit der Kugel am Messer zu betäuben.
