MANTON CALCUTTA Ladies' shotgun cal. 20/70 with Damascus barrels
This elegant hunting shotgun comes from the renowned house of Manton & Co., Calcutta, a significant British-Indian arms manufacturer of the 19th century. The model in caliber 20/70 was specifically designed as a ladies' shotgun – lightweight, easy to handle, and with reduced recoil, ideal for fine hunting parties of the colonial era.
Particularly noteworthy are the artistically crafted Damascus barrels, which not only represent an aesthetic highlight but also reflect the craftsmanship quality of that time. Damascus barrels were considered the epitome of traditional gunsmithing and underscore the historical value of this weapon.
The shotgun is in very well-preserved original condition and was likely manufactured between 1880 and 1910. Due to its rarity, origin, and fine state of preservation, it possesses a high collector's value and is equally suitable for lovers of historical weapons as well as for museum presentations.

Diese elegante Jagdflinte stammt aus dem renommierten Hause Manton & Co., Calcutta, einem bedeutenden britisch-indischen Waffenhersteller des 19. Jahrhunderts. Das Modell im Kaliber 20/70 wurde speziell als Damenflinte konzipiert – leicht, führig und mit reduziertem Rückstoß, ideal für feine Jagdgesellschaften der Kolonialzeit.
Besonders hervorzuheben sind die kunstvoll gefertigten Damastläufe, die nicht nur ein ästhetisches Highlight darstellen, sondern auch die handwerkliche Qualität der damaligen Zeit widerspiegeln. Damastläufe galten als Inbegriff traditioneller Büchsenmacherkunst und unterstreichen den historischen Wert dieser Waffe.
Die Flinte befindet sich in einem sehr gepflegten Originalzustand und wurde vermutlich zwischen 1880 und 1910 gefertigt.
