The Kunai has a double-edged, long, and wedge-shaped blade. The handle is wrapped with bands, and at the end of the handle, there is a ring to which, for example, a rope with a weight or iron ring can be attached. Since the Kunai was a very common tool, it made it easy for a ninja to carry it inconspicuously and use it. They either carried it in a leather sheath on their Obi or tied diagonally around their body with a rope. Due to these circumstances, the Kunai proved itself and spread among them. The ninja could use it as a burglary tool or as a climbing aid.

Der Griff ist mit Bändern umwickelt und am Griffende befindet sich ein Ring, an welchem zum Beispiel ein Seil mit einem Gewicht oder Eisenring befestigt werden kann. Da das Kunai ein sehr gängiges Werkzeug war, machte es dies für einen Ninja leicht, es unauffällig bei sich zu tragen und zu nutzen. Sie trugen es entweder in einer ledernen Scheide am Obi oder mit einem Seil diagonal um den Körper gebunden. Durch diese Umstände bewährte sich das Kunai und verbreitete sich unter ihnen. Der Ninja konnte es als Einbruchswerkzeug oder als Kletterhilfe nutzen.
