The .300 Win Mag, developed in 1963, is based on the .338 Win Mag. From this, the new cartridge case was developed by moving the shoulder forward by 4 mm and shortening the neck by 3 mm. The new cartridge had a neck that is shorter than the bullet diameter, giving it a bold and powerful appearance.
