Leica Calonox View – Thermal imaging technology with maximum image stability and long range
The Leica Calonox View is a powerful thermal imaging handheld device designed for hunters who value detail fidelity, contrast, and a stable image when assessing at long distances. Leica combines high-quality sensors with its own image processing, clearly emphasizing observation quality over mere numerical values.
Sensor & Range
Inside, a VOx sensor with 640 × 512 pixels and a fine 12-µm pixel size operates. This combination allows for very precise temperature differentiation and ensures clear contours even in difficult weather conditions. With the 42-mm lens, the Calonox View achieves a detection range of up to 3,000 m, a reliable recognition at around 1,000 m, and a clear identification up to about 500 m.
Image Representation & Leica Image Optimization
Image processing is done via Leica Image Optimization (LIO™). Specially developed algorithms ensure natural contrasts, clean transitions, and high detail resolution. The result is a very stable thermal image without disturbing noise. Four practical color modes – White Hot, Black Hot, Red Hot, and Rainbow – support assessment depending on terrain and situation.
Display & Image Stability
The display is provided by a high-resolution LCOS-HD display with 1280 × 960 pixels. The fine resolution ensures a stable, eye-friendly image and facilitates safe assessment. In combination with Leica's image processing, the image remains clear and rich in contrast without being overemphasized or losing details.
Magnification & Field of View
The optical base magnification of 2.5× offers a good overview during stalking and sitting. The digital zoom allows for a stepwise increase in magnification up to 10×. The field of view remains balanced, enabling clean tracking of the game even at higher zoom levels.
Operation & Practice
The Calonox View is designed for hunting use. The reduced three-button control concept allows for safe handling even with gloves. Multiple calibration modes ensure that the image is refreshed and stable at all times. Photos and videos can be saved directly in the 16-GB internal memory and transferred to a smartphone via WLAN using the Calonox View app or displayed via live view.

Bedienung & Praxis
Das Calonox View ist auf den jagdlichen Einsatz ausgelegt. Das reduzierte Drei-Tasten-Bedienkonzept erlaubt eine sichere Handhabung auch mit Handschuhen.
