This trend is supported by the growing use of suppressors, especially in the .308 Win caliber.
Standard ammunition is designed for common barrel lengths of 600 mm.
When firing standard ammunition from short barrels (420 mm to 550 mm), the following disadvantages become apparent:
Energy and speed loss, limited effectiveness, pronounced muzzle flash, loud muzzle report, and increased wear on suppressors.
Therefore, RWS has developed a cartridge specifically optimized for use in short barrels.
In practice, this means: shooting from short barrels without loss of performance.
Long-range shooting is enjoying steadily increasing popularity.
On one hand, the rapid technological advancement in firearms and optics increasingly enables shooting and hunting at long distances.
On the other hand, ammunition for hunting trips is required to perform at various distances and game weights.
For example, in mountain hunting or for larger - African - game, high penetration power and stopping effect are essential.
RWS has now developed a suitable hunting bullet for these requirements, which reliably covers bullet deployment ranges from close to over 300m and simultaneously variable game weights.
The RWS SPEED TIP PROFESSIONAL is one of the latest developments from RWS, particularly known for its very high shock/stopping effect and suitability for long shooting distances.
The streamlined bullet shape of the RWS SPEED TIP PROFESSIONAL ends at the front with the Speed-Tip bullet tip, which ensures low air resistance and thus an extremely elongated trajectory.
Even at long shooting distances, the innovative bullet tip allows for precise shots and maximum instantaneous effect.
At the rear, the bullet shape culminates in a V-Tail rear, which also ensures precision and flight stability at long distances due to its shape.
Tailored to the wide range of applications, the new bullet SPEED TIP PROFESSIONAL is developed with a 2-core structure made of lead, based on the proven H-shell principle:
A slightly softer, quickly responsive front core and a penetrating, harder rear core.
The nickel-plated flow steel jacket additionally ensures high shape stability of the remaining body and guarantees a safe exit with blood trail even with larger game!
Thus, the RWS SPEED TIP PROFESSIONAL is optimally developed for the requirements of this caliber regarding stopping effect, penetration power, and long-range suitability.

The extremely elongated trajectory with very high speed also enables hunting at very long shooting distances.
This is achieved through the Long Range bullet shape with the concluding Speed-Tip bullet tip and the V-Tail rear.

Zunehmend gewinnen kurze, führige Läufe an Beliebtheit in der Jägerschaft.
Dieser Trend wird durch die zunehmende Verwendung von Schalldämpfern unterstützt, insbesondere im Kaliber .308 Win.
Standardmunition ist auf gängige Lauflängen von 600 mm ausgelegt.
Beim Verschießen von Standardmunition aus kurzen Läufen (420 mm bis 550 mm) zeigen sich folgende Nachteile:

Die stromlinienförmige Geschossform des RWS SPEED TIP PROFESSIONAL endet vorne mit der Speed-Tip Geschossspitze, die für geringen Luftwiderstand und damit eine extrem gestreckte Flugbahn sorgt.
Auch auf weite Schussdistanzen ermöglicht die neuartige Geschossspitze präzise Schüsse und eine maximale Augenblickswirkung.
Im Heck mündet die Geschossform in einem V-Tail-Heck, das durch seine Form ebenfalls für Präzision und Flugstabilität auf weite Distanzen sorgt.
