The .223 Rem - loaded with 3.56 g heavy projectiles - shows the best performance when hunting deer and fox and can be effectively used up to 200 m. The performance and hunting applications are nearly identical to the .222 Rem., although the .223 Rem. is slightly stronger. In semi-automatic rifles, the .223 Rem. achieves excellent precision.

Thanks to its high precision, it is also an excellent sport cartridge.

The original .223 Rem. replaced the 7.62 NATO (.308 Win.) as a military cartridge. Remington also launched it almost simultaneously as a cartridge for civilian use.

Die Leistung und jagdlichen Einsatzbereiche sind mit der .222 Rem. nahezu identisch, wobei die .223 Rem. etwas stärker ist. In Selbstladebüchsen erreicht die .223 Rem. eine ausgezeichnete Präzision.

Dank ihrer hoher Präzision ist sie auch eine exzellente Sportpatrone.

Die ursprüngliche .223 Rem. löste als Militärpatrone die 7,62 Nato (.308 Win.) ab.
