RWS rifle cartridges in caliber 9.3x62
The 9.3x62 is ideal for forest hunting and suitable for medium shooting distances. It is particularly gentle on game when hunting roe deer.
The 9.3x62 was developed around the year 1905 and was intended for use specifically in the then German colonies in Africa. However, the cartridge quickly found successful application in Central European big game hunting, especially for moose, red deer, and wild boar, so it did not remain a purely "Africa cartridge."
The RWS loadings with bullet weights from 11.9 g to 19.0 g enhance the versatility of this popular big game cartridge.
RWS Short Rifle cartridges in caliber 9.3x62:
Short, handy barrels are increasingly gaining popularity among hunters. This trend is supported by the more frequent use of suppressors. Standard ammunition is designed for common barrel lengths of 600 mm. When firing standard ammunition from short barrels (420 mm to 550 mm), the following disadvantages become apparent: energy and velocity loss, limited effectiveness, pronounced muzzle flash, loud muzzle report, and increased wear on suppressors.
Therefore, RWS has developed the Short Rifle cartridge, which is specifically optimized for use from short barrels. In practice, this means: shooting from short barrels without loss of performance.

Die 9,3x62 ist ideal für die Waldjagd und auf mittlere Schussweiten geeignet. Auf Rehwild wirkt sie besonders wildbretschonend.
Die 9,3x62 ist um das Jahr 1905 entwickelt worden und sollte speziell in den damaligen deutschen Kolonien Afrikas zur Anwendung kommen. Jedoch wurde die Patrone schnell auf mitteleuropäisches Hochwild, vor allem Elch-, Rot- und Schwarzwild mit besten Erfolgen eingesetzt, so dass sie keine reine "Afrika-Patrone" blieb.
Die RWS-Laborierungen mit Geschossgewichten von 11,9 g bis 19,0 g steigern die Universalität dieser beliebten Hochwildpatrone.

Zunehmend gewinnen kurze, führige Läufe an Beliebtheit in der Jägerschaft. Dieser Trend wird durch die immer häufigere Verwendung von Schalldämpfern unterstützt. Standardmunition ist auf gängige Lauflängen von 600 mm ausgelegt. Beim Verschießen von Standardmunition aus kurzen Läufen (420 mm bis 550 mm) zeigen sich folgende Nachteile: Energie- und Geschwindigkeitsverlust, eingeschränkte Wirksamkeit, ausgeprägtes Mündungsfeuer, lauter Mündungsknall und erhöhte Abnutzung bei Schalldämpfern.
RWS hat deshalb mit der Short Rifle eine Patrone entwickelt, die speziell für die Verwendung aus kurzen Läufen optimiert ist. In der Praxis bedeutet das: Schießen aus kurzen Läufen ohne Leistungseinbußen.
