The Krag-Jorgensen M1894 in 6.5mm x 55, known as the “long Krag,” is a Norwegian military rifle distinguished not only by its unique features but also by its rich history. Adopted in 1894, it fires the 6.5 mm x 55 cartridge, selected after careful ballistic testing and found to be the best choice for the Norwegian Army. The design also gained recognition beyond Norway: other countries used it, including the United States, where the Krag-Jorgensen was the standard military rifle in the 1890s.

The loading system of the Krag-Jorgensen M1894 was one of its most distinctive and innovative features, setting it apart from other designs of the era. Instead of traditional loading from the top of the action using stripper clips, Krag used a hinged side magazine. Soldiers could easily place loose cartridges into the magazine without special accessories, allowing them to quickly replenish their ammunition, even in combat.

However, this mechanism had its limitations. The magazine’s position on the side could affect the rifle’s balance, and the inability to use stripper clips made reloading slower than with Mauser rifles, which excelled in this regard. Even so, the Krag system offered exceptional flexibility and allowed soldiers to load individual cartridges, which was useful when there was no need to fill the entire magazine.

The firearm is in very good condition. The bore is also in great condition.

Krag-Jorgensen M1894 kal. Przyjęty do służby w 1894 roku, strzela nabojem kal.
