Oferowany egzemplarz był pierwotnie karabinem Chassepot Mle 1866 (wyprodukowanym w arsenale Chatellrault), który następnie został przerobiony na karabin systemu Grasa - już pod oznaczeniem 1866-74. Był to typowy los karabinów Chassepot, oprócz oczywiście normalnej produkcji Grasów Mle 1874.

Stan ogólny dość słaby - wżery po korozji obecne są praktycznie na całym karabinie. Korozja została usunięta dość fachowo.

Przewód lufy: w przeciwieństwie do stanu zewnętrznego - znacznie lepszy (wbrew pozorom). Gwint bardzo ostry, kompletny - całość przewodu pokryta jest równomiernie bardzo drobnymi wżerami / zmatowieniem. Wszystko wskazuje na to, że ta lufa nadawać się będzie do strzelania bardzo dobrze.
